The OP actually wanted Bama or South Carolina in the playoff over SMU… so you’re just wrong. But I don’t feel bad for any team that loses 3 games and gets left out.

The teams at the top of their conferences are there. Who else should be? Why should you play in the tournament if you're not at the top of your division?

The committee looked at overall records and ignored who a team beat or strength of schedule; thus SMU and Indiana got top ten rankings.

Should be mandatory to have atleast 1 top 25 victory to be considered for the playoff. With that said I’m happy Bama missed out even if that means SMU has to be the sacrificial lamb but I would be absolutely pissed if that happened to LSU and I had to watch this bullshite today.

I agree with this but there should never be a situation where 3-4 loss teams are in the playoffs. It’s just the bad card the SEC draws because of how hard the conference is.

Agreed. But let me add, Penn State and Notre Dame don't belong in the playoff either. They play small-ball. Not impressed.

How about before the playoffs the four lowest ranked teams in the CFP have to play the four highest ranked SEC teams in a wildcard playoff. The winners take the bottom 4 slots of the twelve CFP teams. The networks sell more advertising and the CFP gets more money.

Every sport with playoffs from HS to professional is based off W/L or winning a conference championship to earn a playoff birth.
The point of the playoffs shouldn’t be what will be a great matchup. It should be based of W/L and if you won a conference championship to earn a playoff birth, like every other sport in the world at every level.
