After the fact genius

He did a great job in 2019. Then got lazy and screwed up our depth and set us back years. Many people on here give Brian Kelly a hard time. But at least he is able to see problem areas and tries to fix it. And won't hesitate to fire coaches that can't cut it.

According to Wiki, LSU's defense ranked 31st nationally in total yards allowed per game, with an average of 344.2 yards, according to CBS Sports. They also conceded 21.9 points per game, which was the third-worst among national champions since 1936. The defense was solid but not elite.
Go back and watch the last regular season game vs A&M, the SECCG, and then the playoffs. Check out the Auburn game while you’re at it. You know, the one where the offense couldn’t move the ball? Who won that one?
Yes, the defense struggled to adjust to the new offensive scheme and tempo. That’s not all that surprising considering how dramatic of a shift it was. Then we had a rash of injuries that culminated in the terrible 2nd half at Ole Myth.
But once everyone got healthy and ready for the stretch run, the defense absolutely played as elite as you can get in our last 4 games, especially the last two. We completely sat on a powerhouse Clemson offense for the entire second half.
The stats were what they were, but ignoring how the 2019 defense closed the season and contributed to winning a title is flat-out cherry picking data to fit your narrative.

And there was still enough talent to make it to the SEC Championship game Kelly's first year.
After adding 15 true freshmen, several of whom played key roles and a few started. Campbell, Jones, Perkins, and Taylor just to name a few. Then there were 17 portal players that completely rebuilt the fricking defense and gave us our starting QB. O left us so much we had a walk-on starting games at RB and a portal guy and two true freshmen playing on the OL
Again, you are one cherry-picking motherfricker. Shilling for O like it’s your livelihood

And other than the "Roll Tide WHAT" moment, etc., that season (which was a private moment with his team after a monumental W), Ed O was surprisingly very professional in his interviews
"That season" was 2019, no? I think I was pretty clear about that. We all know he lost his mind and acted like an idiot in public on a number of occasions following that.

Like I asked, if Sloan weren't a good hire, why wasn't he replaced this offseason?
You said Kelly won't admit that he was wrong, I pointed out that he has literally did that exact thing before.

We have no glorious 2019 without Coach

His record is terrible when compared to Les, Saban and Kelly. He won a Natty with the most talented team LSU ever had. He lost at home to Troy and chose to chase girls instead of lead the team after 2019.
Go away Ed!

O did a pretty good job recruiting DL until his last season, but he let the OL fall off a fricking cliff
Will Campbell and Emory Jones were O's recruits. They committed before O was fired. BK did keep them on board but they were O's guys.

I’m talking about the preceding years. Look at the OL carryovers in 2022 before recruiting and the portal. Dellinger, Turner and Martinez were the only 3 SEC-quality OL on the entire roster. Everyone else washed out and ended up in the G5.
And to be honest, Dellinger was the only one good enough to be a strong starting OL. Turner was smart and handled the snaps and protection calls well, but he struggled getting pushed around a lot in 22 and was average at best as a starting Center. Better than Chester was last year, but we need better than either.
Martinez never started here and had to transfer to a bad State team to start last year. So he was also pretty marginal.
If you want to give O a gold star for Campbell and Jones, be my guest, but at least be honest about what happened before that. He dropped the fricking ball on the OL big time.

When the then HC of LSU football is on his own radio show publicly saying "If I knew how to fix it, I would", there's a problem.
He was a good recruiter but after 2019, he checked out. The end.
I don't wish any ill on him but he brought the "hate" (a better word is frustration) about him on himself by his actions after 2019.
Good riddance.

Bc O quit on LSU. He made it to the top and said "where the money?" He hired coaches without interviewing them. He was more into getting laid than putting a winning product on the field. Should have been easy to stay motivated and on top. Get recruits and top assistant coaches. He did not do that. Put LSU so far behind that BK when hired had 39 scholarship players.
Yes I'm the glad for what he did for one season but pissed that he let go to hell quick.

Yep, he was letting Ponamsky vet hires. Amazing.

O is very entertaining. But do you really want him to be the face of a respected university?
I do find it a little odd that the most extreme O hate seems to come from Acadiana. Maybe because he's a walking caricature of Cajun culture?

Nope. He's trashy and always has been. One of the reasons I never liked him.

Sorry you ca't help it.
So bitter toward a man/coach who led us to our greatest season ever. Greatest team in the history of the NCAA, according to some
Fans such as you criticized Saban after the loss to Iowa. Especially after he was turned down by LSU so instead he went to Alabama.
