All of your categories but one I could apply to guys who fight their tails off to be team role players. Brandon Taylor, Ron Brooks, ect. As far as the QB demeanor thing, who cares? Brett Fare was self absorbed and was known to have a disagreeable deamnor on the field. (smiling after INTs at times, oh no!) But he was a tough sob that could lead a team. Toughness and preserverence are the most underrated aspects to being a QB. Lee should remain our starter, but with a real QB coach now, it looks like we have 2 tough and capable QBs, differences in demeanor be damned.

Lastly, I am a military officer and I have seen many good Soldiers screw up. As a commander I had to make the hard choice to kick some kids out who had enormous potential, but I made the hard right every time.

U expect me to believe that EVERY TIME a soldier made 1 single mistake no matter what it was u kicked them out the military?

Actually there is a code of conduct that academic scholarships have, violate it and they lose their scholarship. Just like athletes....sorry to burst your indignation bubble.

And how many of those are subjected to random drug tests by the university? Absolutely zero. How many of them are on TV week in and week out? Zero. I worked in the academic side of the athletic department for almost 6 years and know what is expected of these student athletes. They ALL know they could be tested at any given time. As for the "rumor" that it was a drug test, I will say with 99% accuracy that is what happened. And according to the rules in place, the only time they would be facing suspension is after a second failure. I'm thinking you should learn your lesson after the first one, but that's just me. I just can't believe the people that are ok with what they did. You may not agree with drugs being illegal, but they are, so abide by the fricking laws and rules in place. I hope they come back and have outstanding careers the rest of the way, but for now, I'm absolutely fine with them sitting.

given a chance to represent their school and receive all the associated benefits while receiving an education. They should be held to a higher standard. This is a larger problem of society, and it upsets me that people on here rationalize that what they did is ok.

i appreciate what you say and very much respect your opinion because you are an officer in our military. but i disagree with your statement reflecting breaking rules as a black and white issue. there certainly may be extenuating (sp)circumstances and i think they should be considered. but i really really disagree with kicking them off of the team. the punishment should fit the crime. zero tolerence is so wrong on so many levels. and to intimate that they don't have morals or values is bull shite. you don't know them. so i think your next statement about smoking pot not being a huge deal with you is not a true statement. if you have all of these superior morals, how come you dismiss your own lie? i once knew a kid that got expelled for having aspirin in her book bag in a school that had this wonderful zero tolerance policy. so, aspirin was treated the same as heroine. that's crap in anybody's book.

Was it in the agreement THEY SIGNED AS CONSENTING ADULTS?

WTF does this allow someone to break the rules set forth in the contract?

Hey guys. As much as I hate too, I have to go to work. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I have enjoyed watching the back and forth. Bottom line... Pot is illegal. That fake pot crap is also illegal in LA. I am extremely proud to have been given the opportunity to serve my country in a values based organization. By the way, the Army is absolutely a results based organization too.

I am also proud to be an LSU grad and I am proud of the men and women that represent out school well. It's just disappointing when our guys are in the news for the wrong reasons.

No you just said it because you occupy your self-absorbed, conceited, obnoxious mind of yours with those issues. I was asking a specific question, but in your mind you only saw what you wanted to see. and you projected it on others, rather incredulously...that's why you said what you wanted to say.

If you are willing and knowingly doing something reapeatedly that you know for a fact that if you get caught you are going to be in some shite... why should ANYBODY feel sorry for you? WHy does it bother you and others so much that people call them out on it and call a spade a spade?

Nobody is asking you to feel sorry for them, but some of the things posted on this board are going way overboard especially without knowing any of the facts.
