There have been 16 homeruns so far in this CWS. It's definitely down a bit from the past years, but not by a ton. There is still a guaranteed 4 games left with a potential for 7.

2019 had 22 total HRs.
2021 had 28.
2022 had 28.

The field and the location were all part of a deal with the NCAA. The NCAA wanted a new ball park that included the parking. Omaha agreed only because the NCAA threatened to move the games unless the new stadium was built.

The design of the stadium, the location, the orientation, everything was worked out in consultations with the NCAA.

If the NCAA hadn't acted, the people of Omaha would have kept Rosenblatt.

By contrast, LSU hit 16 HRs alone in its last 4 games at Alex Box.

1 HR the last 4 CWS games: Crews last night. The wind ate 3 more HRs that would have been one at any other park: Crews, White & Jobert.

Average CWS total games is 15-16.

At some point this is meaningless to even discuss...and I think that point was 5 years ago. Stadium design ain't goin to change, the venue ain't gonn change and game start times probably ain't gonna change either.

Play ball.
I disagree. This dumbass decision should be hated on every single year.

TD Ameritrade was completed and used for multiple seasons before Omaha ever elected a woman mayor….

Everyone plays in the same stadium and everyone knows how the park plays and has been knowing that for quite some time now.

It's just not that simple, man

The NCAA, SEC, ACC, etc are trying to encourage MLB talent to forego the draft. MLB is perfectly fine with that, as long as that talent is developed for their league.

MLB is not interested in singles hitters that can sacrifice or outfielders who only have to cover have of their field, or pitchers that can pitch flyballs

Here you are showcasing that talent under the worst case scenario. Shadows all over the field between the mound and plate, and consistent traditional wind blowing in from CF

These guys have grooved swings that MLB is looking for, and now when all eyes are on them, they have situational hit and make UCLA proud.

Actually falls right in line with their grasp of the strike zone

With our pitching staffs history, wind blowing in favors LSU vs Wake.

Stadiums are ALWAYS built with the backdrop in mind.

They just need to move the fences in some at this point, create extra seating in the process, win win for everybody.

NCAA has proven to be its own worst enemy.

At the time the new stadium was built, MiLB was a separate entity

It is now downsized and owned by MLB (the owners)

College baseball is in a perfect position to prosper, and now they are stuck with their best marketing opportunity in a stadium that encourages a style of play that MLB has no interest.

That’s the obvious lazy take.

The rest of the college baseball world would rather see the strength of teams be the deciding factor to crown the best team. We want to see the best vs the best, Not the team that adapted to playing a different style the best and winning off errors.

let's face it, before live bats and balls, i.e. gorilla ball, baseball was a boring and obscure sport, if not for that and ESPN college baseball would be on an almost intramural sport level as far as fan interest

The announcers are tip toeing around the very subject we are discussing on a nightly basis

They want to say what we see to be obvious, but don't want to damage their product

The stadium was built years before a woman was the mayor.

The NCAA was the driving force for the stadium's design and location.

The problem with the sun would be hard to fix, but there is a pretty easy solution with the wind. The Texas Rangers had the same problem at old Arlington Stadium, which was oriented in exactly the same fashion, producing exactly the same problem

In the early '80s, they built a wraparound scoreboard above the outfield bleachers and, much to their surprise, it completely changed the nature of the park.

The prevailing SE wind (notice the flags in the photo) went from knocking down fly balls to sort of creating a vacuum effect, which propelled fly balls. The same thing could be done in Omaha, although it would obscure the view of downtown, such as it is.
