That’s not why lsu won the NC last year.

Not THE reason, but we don't win the NC without him. He literally got 3 wins in the postseason last year not counting the SECt which was a game that still helped secure a national seed.

Hurd didn't get it going until the last SEC series of the year last season vs UGA

That's correct, but this year he needs to be going by the first SEC series not the last.

Man I am going miss Skenes dominating Legendary Friday night SEC performances from last year. We will probably never see that again in college baseball, so this year will be a lot different. I'm hopeful wherever Hurd fits in he can overcome bad calls and throw a lot of great innings thus season. We all know he has really good talent.

Are you really trying to put this lost on Hurd? The offense was completely shut down and Hurd gave up 3 runs.

You guys forget so soon that without Thatcher we wouldn’t have won the CWS. He carried us when we needed him at the end of post season. Stop the abuse

That's exactly what got him in funks last year. He would be pitching along fine and then a bad call would get him out his groove and he couldn't throw a strike. When he had a lot of confidence at the end of last year he was able to overcome it and throw some great stuff.
This is the key factor. It's mental. He's got to be able to keep his composure and not let his frustration take over when he gets a bad call, et cetera. His body language changes dramatically. He's got the talent. Throwing 96. He'll turn it around.

Definitely. Idk why people are acting like he wasn’t downright dominant in Omaha. He’s going to have to figure out this slow start stuff for him to make an actual career out of the sport, but he’s shown the talent to be dominant in the biggest stage.

Maybe he needs to start out in the pen then work his way into the rotation, but this team will need him.

He wasn’t elite but in no way shape or form did he “look like shite”.

I’m not by any means putting the loss on Hurd. My point is that it’s deeply concerning that our Friday night guy can’t make it through 4 full innings in either of his first 2 starts against shite programs

Wouldn’t mind see what Anderson can do a few more starts. Maybe move him to Sunday and Hurd to long relief

Are you aware the we played a game yesterday and that Thatcher did not, in fact, pitch the first game of this series?

I guess you didn’t get the memo when Jay was quoted saying that Hurd is our Friday night guy. Go away, casual

He got pulled in the 5th today, but you’re right that he needs to start going deeper into games

With Hurd he always gets in trouble when he nibbles. His stuff is way too good to get caught up in trying to make perfect pitches. If he’s pounding the strike zone he usually has a really good day.

Jay said last year to win an NC Hurd needs to be in the weekend rotation

The post you responded to didn't say anything about not being part of the weekend rotation, on the contrary he specifically said try moving him to Sunday. So I don't know what point you were trying to make or refute with this response.
