Linda Moorehouse absolutely should have have gotten that job because she earned it.
She was hired as "Director of Bands." Then the Athletic Dept/School of Music decided to restructure the Band Dept. They split the band department into a "Symphonic" half and an "Athletic" half. They created a "Director of Athletic Bands" and "Director of Symphonic Bands." Moorhouse wanted to do both and that created a problem, so she wound up resigning her position and took a position at the University of Illinois during the summer of 2011, right before football season. They had no other choice but to promote Roy King into the "Director of Athletic Bands" position because the season was just about to start.
The problem is that after the season they didn't open up the search again for a new "Director of Athletic Bands. " They just kept King in there and you're seeing the results on the field at halftime, as Roy is in way over his head. Their shows are not of traditional LSU band quality and it's regressing with each passing season. I'm talking about half-time, not Pre-Game and and all that other stuff!
Roy was fine as an associate/assistant, but he's not the "Head Guy" type at all. Doesn't command the necessary type respect for the position from either current or former band members. Something will have to be done here in the near future or it's gong to continue to regress.
BTW, loved Auburn's "James Bond" Show. Was a lot more entertaining and visually/musically appealing!

She was actually named "Director of Tiger Band".
Linda had been doing Frank's job as director of Tiger Band for years before he retired. So there was nothing special about her being named director of tiger band.
Roy King was named Director of Athletic Bands when he was promoted.
Linda Moorhouse should have gotten Frank's job as Director of Everything at LSU.

linda is not a nice person but, she paid her dues and probably deserved the head title.
I sat 8 rows up on the east side and the horns sounded great, about as good as ever and definitely better than auburn. however, the show creativity has taken a step back, at least in the general effect dept.
like most people, i'm getting weary of the recorded music. keep that in the pros. I would like to hear more tb during the game.

I take great pride in saying I have a 98 game streak of not watching a halftime show. Unless the Golden Girls perform nude (or at least topless) , I expect this streak to continue for the rest of my life!...Okay, I admit it, I'd stay and watch if one of those big assed flag girls dropped her top. (just saying)

What exactly were you expecting with this contribution, an internet high five?
You, sir, are the biggest bad arse in this thread.

In all honesty, the band has slowly dropped in quality ever since Dr. Rouse left, at least marching-wise. The band still sounds great, but marching is not what it was.
When Rouse was at the helm, you never, and I mean never saw a crooked line when the band marched on the field.
You qualified not only by being able to play your instrument well, but also by marching with an egg on a spoon, the handle of said spoon in your mouth.
Drop it while marching, and that was it, you were done.

When one of your songs is Elinore Rigby, the show is going to suck.

Heard Linda had a longtime tryst with Wickes and that had much to do with her own position...

apples and oranges.
My first ever game in TGBFTL was in 1986 v. Texas A & M. And it was OMGWTFIKR. I thought their Oranges were way better than our Apples. They were loud, they were brash, they were tight, and very disciplined. In short, they were absolutely amazing.
The Sousaphones turning, the boots, the flashback drills, and marching 6 steps to 5 yards (most bands do 8 to 5.
The Corps of Cadets rocks.

I know it's completely different styles, but I prefer it over the others.
