yea they both bring elements we need.

But Ed O has to come for me to be completely sold on the chavis move.

Hate to play Devil's Advocate in a thread with actual info in it, but doesn't turning 12-0 talent into 10-2 talent, while celebrating the #2 recruiting class, describe Pete Carroll of 2006 and 2007 to a "T?" Or pre-VY Mack Brown, for that matter.

completely sold? i agree

but if chavis can just improve our fundamentals, i think we'll be ok

if mallory didn't gameplan until thursday and didn't install any complexities in the D, AND we didn't have any fundamentals at any positional group, i'm really wondering what the frick he did all year

Petey built that talent from scratch, Miles walked into his.

I wouldn't want pre-VY Mack Brown coaching my team either. Post-VY Mack Brown hires the best staff money can buy, which is what Miles needs to do.

Not that it qualifies me any more than others to know, but Verge and I were teammates in high school, and I see him now and again, and I would be surprised to know that he contacted a potential staff member, without first running it by Miles.

Not saying it didn't happen, but Verge is a stand up guy, and this doesn't pass the smell test.

Fair enough. But that isn't what he was whining about. Losing 2 games or more with a stable of thoroughbreds was practically invented by Mack Brown. And Petey turned the trick in consecutive years in an awful conference. You could almost throw Richt in there too, after this year.my point is simply that to the extent that Miles has squandered talent, he's a) not alone and b) tied with those guys for # of MNC's.
