I haven't really been in any of the other Guidry threads, but it makes sense that it has become canon around here.

yes we are sure, its the same type injury he had senior year of HS and at end of freshman year at LSU when he didnt play summer ball because of it.

stop just making stuff up

and to the other poster, why would this ruin a relationship with Barbe? its an injury he had at Barbe too or atleast similar, I dunno if its exactly the same.

He was an effective arm out of the bullpen that could close games at times.

Which is exactly what this team needs right now.

Guidry has been a stud for a couple of years now and has one injury and you pussies act like he's always hurt.

Are you talking to me?

The fact that they're announcing each week on his availability - let's me know he's close.

Not really considering Jay has said basically this exact thing multiple times already this year.

If anything, the handling of his injury might improve the recruiting pipeline. Just a thought.

All teams could use an effective arm in the bullpen.

He would be our 3rd best option behind Evans and Cowan. So better than most.

This would be welcomed on this years staff.

This board is getting the backup QB syndrome with Guidry. If he stays out much longer, he will throw 110 mph and strike every single batter out. People are forgetting he throws 90-91 mph with a curveball that tends to hang and get hit really hard

Yeah, don’t get me wrong because I want Guidry back just as much as everyone else but seeing Schmidt, Williams, and Rizy improve where each can get three more outs each would be better IMO.

It’s not one or the other. All of those guys can continue to improve even if Guidry comes back

Just reading between the lines and Jay seems pretty frustrated with the whole situation.

IS this a joke? He was our top reliever last season after Herring.

Now he has never thrown a ton of innings, which makes sense for a guy whose freshman year he tried to do both hitting/pitching for a while and tried to rekindle hitting a bit before last year as well. But he was building up his stamina pretty successfully leading up to this season and just had a big injury setback unfortunately.

I have zero doubt Guidry would be one of the top arms used on this staff considering practically nobody seems to be able to throw strikes outside the starters and a couple relievers. Now Guidry doesnt have great control himself, but teams hit .165 on him last year and he doesnt have Mayers bad control at least where he has to give 2 free passes every time to get 2-3 outs. Guidry walked just 1 guy in 10.2 IP last fall and struck out 19, he looked absolutely elite.

People remember the homeruns because he's given up some big ones in his 2 years here which is gonna happen for a pitcher of his makeup. But he's also gotten a lot of outs in SEC play and you know what you're getting with him. Other than Evans and Cowan that doesn't exist in our bullpen this year. Getting another 6 outs per weekend while giving up 1 run or so would be huge for us. He doesn't need to be the ace of the bullpen. Just needs to bridge to those 2 guys

We have flame throwers. We need someone who throws strikes.

This. Big, slow overhand curve that he throws 75% of the time.
