They should have T’d up Clark in the 1st half when she went to the bench with 3 fouls. She went off on the refs and pointed at the refs as she was standing on the sideline.

The great thing about what was a horribly officiated game is that nobody in their right mind would think the game would have turned out different if Iowa got more calls. LSU was not going to be beat today.

A foul here or there may affect the outcome of a 3 or 4 point game, but not a 17 point blow out.

It was a stupid and cheap call in that situation.
Ref explained that the delay of game warning had already been given. She tossed the ball off the court- that's automatic.
Makes no difference that Iowa was on a run, or that the player who did it was a star.
And listening to the game, the announcers actually pleading for "leniency"... for those very reasons.

She shouldn't have fricking done that. You don't get a pass because you're a star.

It was a tricky tack call…and we would have lost our minds if a call like that went against us…but I’m ok with it

Iowa had already been given a delay of game warning, next event would be a tech. She tossed the ball off the court, instead of to the ref or simply dropping it. It was a dumb move on her part.
We would have lost our minds if that was called on us... but it would have been directed at the player. WTF are you doing???

Officials were terrible but they were consistently terrible for both teams

Oh come on! When you throw the ball out of bounds like that You’re asking for a T and she got it. . The girl has played the game long enough to know better.

I mean... the delay of game rule is very simple to understand... if you commit an act which is deemed to delay the game the team is accessed a warning on the 1st violation and any following violations are technical fouls
Iowa received the warning in the 3rd quarter for knocking a made basket out of bounds in a manner which delayed a restart to the action
when Clark committed her act in the 4th... that was a 2nd delay of game violation and thus a technical foul... not hard to understand and not something a referee can just gloss over and forget about

Our O was better than Iowa's and our D was better than Iowa's. Our ladies were also coached better than Iowa's, IMO.
LSU was, and is, just better than Iowa.

It was Clark that was already warned on what happened.
I have seen it in an LSU game back in the 1980's one warning the next time it is a tech, and that is what happened.

quote:No. It was a ridiculous call.
Let’s put away this part of the BS.
There were many.
Same thing with the USC-Iowa game, btw.
Poor poor quality officiating.

How was there a delay. It was a timeout!! LOL

quote:I don’t know for sure if it was automatic like the op said but she definitely threw the ball into the reporters under the goal after the call, and they were definitely warned on the other end prior to that after one of their made shots.
How was there a delay.
quote:Well this is definitely false. It was after a foul call and before free throws.
It was a timeout

There was a personal foul, not a timeout.

Also, in addition to the delay, the act alone was flippant toward the refs, and I've seen NBA players T'ed up for less.

It was a delay of game foul. Iowa had already been issued a warning for delay previously.
It wasn't a stupid or cheap call. Rules are rules.
It was a stupid and petty move by Clark.
