I doubt it, Helenihi had a great glove at 3rd.

Yeah. Several spectacular plays in the CWS.

He also did not hit the ball at all. Grant it, I love Helenihi but PM was subbing him all year for Hanover bc he wasnt hitting.

And Hanover was batting .320-.340 most of the year.

Outside of February and March of 2008 Helenihi was a terrible, terrible hitter. We were so stacked in 2009 we could afford to have him in the lineup with his bad bat. His glove made up for it.

And he made lots of errors. Katz with the bats that year would have played no doubt

so where would he fit in on the 09 team?

Katz> Ochinko, who played 1B most of that year. Dean could have played 1st, Katz could have DHed. Or vice versa.

When I think of Ochinko, I think of that ball he bounced over the third baseman's head in the CWS. Or was it the SR?

He did that in the 9th against UC-Irvine game 2 08.

He chopped a pretty well hit single through the hole on the left side against Texas in game 3 that scored 2 runs and capped our big inning.

The new bats are close to wooden bats as far as pop. Dean with wooden bats in single a hit 302 with 5 Hrs in 2010. In 2011, he hit 237 with 7 Hrs. I just think the new bats would have hurt his production a good bit.

ETA: this is single A stats for both years.

prob 6th or 7th

with those bats he probably would have put up better numbers than most of the guys. including Mahtook, Gibbs, Hanover, Leon, Ochinko.

That's up for debate. Single A is not that great. He is not even in high A

It's not up for debate at all. Low single a is better than college.

As a whole? No doubt. Against all the pitching talent in the SEC this year? hmmm. There are a handful of pitchers in the SEC that will be moving right past low single a.

"we have won an awful lot of 1 run games. somebody must be hitting in the clutch."

Most likely pitching clutch
