I like Katz, I expected him to be the guy coming into this season..and he's delivered for the most part.... that said

bottom 9 down by 1 with a man on base with 2 outs....who you want at the plate Katz or Dean?

This team is just out classed when compared to those guys, plan and simple. Katz is a 6 hole hitter (by LSU standards) and he's in the 3. He wouldn't crack the 2009 lineup.

If you take the stats of both guys they're almost identical. They hit the same amount of triples per year, Katz averages 1 double more, whereas Dean obviously averages 7 more HR's, and both average 35 SO a year. So saying that we don't have a Dean on the team isn't really true. I still stand by my orginal saying that I would take Dean over Katz just because of the little power upgrade. That being said...I wouldn't turn either down.

I agree completely. I was mainly saying bc the guy said we didn't have a dean. It's very arguable either way. I just think Katz would have hit about as many HRs if they were playing with the same bats.

The real issue is this is a different era of baseball. You have to manufacture runs bc of the bats. We are not used to having to do that.

it's like some people just sit around waiting for a loss...so they can come here and rant about how much we suck and call for firing coaches...etc

It takes a special kind of ranter to say a .350 hitter wouldn't fit in to a lineup.

Dont forget the bat Katz is swinging is condsiderably shittier than what we swung in 2009, espescially for power #s. Katz is damn good. Not sure I would take him over Dean though.

Sorry haven't checked his BA lately. He was in the ~.350 area most of the season when I saw it posted.
And it still doesn't make a difference.

I would take Dean as well as I'm sure most would, but Katz has had a very good year by any standard.

A lot of gems in this thread
We don't have a Mahtook and Dean-No shite
We lack power-very good observation
Hanover lacks power-groundbreaking news
Katz>Dean
Rhymes was supposed to bat .500 all year-I mean its only been done one other time in SEC history

This is the kind of shite that is pathetic after an LSU loss. In the grand scheme of things we are still a very good ball club...but rantards act like the world is ending

The only spot I could see him taking was Helenihi's spot

ETA: and probably Hanover...

Looking back at the lineup, it's hard to believe just how stacked we were

So, is Rhymes cooling off or did Vandy just know how to pitch him?

I dont think Vandy has figured anything out. They had some solid pitchers and it was only a matter of time until Raph came back down to earth. Hopefully it was just a one series slump, because we pretty much need Raph playing with his hair on fire to score runs, and that puts a lot of pressure on him but it is what it is.

No, his balls just didn't find the holes. Many of his ground balls this year found holes. They weren't necessarily hit hard, just hit it in the right spot. To hit at his average, it takes that.
