TDP’s NFL life will not be short because of injury. He will be lucky to make a roster.

He's getting some bad advice.

Had he stayed he would have been one of the team's big NIL guys.

Instead, he's probably a 4th or 5th-round draft choice -- at best -- and he'll struggle to stay on somebody's practice squad for a couple of years.

Bad advice abounds in this transfer portal/NIL/opt-out age.

To see some of the comments made about this kid is disheartening .If you knew this kid , his wonderful family and his reasons for this decision you might understand. He ended his junior season on a high note once the o-line blocked halfway decent and even set some records doing so. He has a baby girl to think of now and support. What if he comes back next year and blows his knee out? I think maybe if he didn’t have a child he may come back but who knows…
His commitment to this team never waivered even through the coaching changes and rumors around the locker room. He’s a very respectful young man with manors that you don’t typically see these days. Devoted time of his own to local schools encouraging kids to do the right things and was very involved with kids that had disabilities and special needs. On top of that he was hunted hard by Saban and chose to stay home and win a national championship with the Purple and Gold. Let’s give the kid the benefit of the doubt and wish him luck at pursuing a prosperous career at the next level.

It is not about how nice and wonderful TDP is, the NFL is a business and is ran like it! TDP is a great kid but he is getting bad advice. He is gonna be lucky if he even makes a roster

If he makes a practice squad he will be making $14K per week. Are you aware of the number of injuries that happened this year at the RB position in the NFL?

Some teams were scrambling to find anyone to suit up in the backfield. If he has a family to support and needs to start making money now then good for him.

A nice game against a soft Big 12 defense on artificial turf could have added to some serious NFL money. But I wish him the best of luck.

I understand it’s a business. I guess what I’m saying is people don’t need to bash this kind of player. He’s not one of those that was about himself and what others can do for him. He was a true team player and left everything on the field. He’s the kind of kid that we all want to play at LSU. That’s all I was saying.

When a player has a young child. It is easy for money hungry agents to sell the idea of moving on to a paycheck. Any paycheck.
Waiting a year asks a lot from a young man.
College players should be paid.

So why not finish school and give yourself more options...or at least finish the season and not quit the week of a game on bad terms.

Well maybe since he has a 1 yr old child and cant improve his draft stock anymore, why risk injury? Only choice for him to make! Not about what round anymore!!

Saying the truth about TDP’s NFL potential is not bashing him. Some of you are so soft that any comment which YOU deem unflattering you label as “bashing”. TDP is not that great of a RB. In fact he is truthfully a Fullback. That is the truth and is not bashing.

What if he doesn't get drafted (like most here think) and doesn't get a FA deal (like most here think)?

How will that impact his baby girl?

It's comments like yours that make me think he's getting bad advice somewhere. Your entire analysis is based on half the information. You haven't considered the other half, and what happens if he doesn't make it.

If, in fact, he can make a team in the NFL, then he would have made a good decision. I don't think many give him a better shot at that than not making it though.

long odds of making it in the NFL, so why not graduate next year and then get a regular job after next year if the NFL doesn't work out?

If he truly wants to support his child, staying in school one more year and getting a college degree seems like a much more prudent path.

Did he graduate? If so, perhaps he’s seeing two years of practice squad vs only one if he stays. $165,400 per season is likely more than 99% of what LSU student undergrads earn. Still could garner sufficient experience and develop contacts to stay involved in the game (be it coaching at some level or otherwise).
