One of the things that amazes me is the Harold Perkins love. Go back and look stats of 2022. He had 7 1/2 sacks including the bowl game. Three of them are against Arkansas who is quarterback, couldn’t start on many high school teams. Any big game against a good offensive line he was nonexistent.

Gus position is string safety and ge would be a monster at it. He is fast enough to cover and string enough to stuff the run.

The point is that these kids shouldn’t be on the field at LSU. That’s what happens. We missed and put non LSU standard kids in the gold helmet.

This has to turn nearly 180 for this program to be a contender. That line up is weak as a kitten.

This is a pretty bad take. You cited a number of players who have tons of talent and yet aren’t living up to it (Smith, Ryan, etc.). That’s a coaching issue. Look at the roster talent rankings and see where we are. It’s not the players. We’re not championship caliber talent on D, but we’re better than historically worst of all time for LSU.

I can remember when a defensive player got hurt. Next man up. Didn't lose anything. Portal helps and hurts. Defensive players hit the portal wanting to play and not sit behind someone waiting for an injury.

I cited 2 players. Nobody disagrees they aren’t living up to “talent” standards.

Phenomenal defensive players should be lined up around the block knocking down the gates to come play here and judging by the recruiting tracker it’s just not happening. That’s all coaching.

I do agree with you there.

Watching guys get beat because they are facing better athletes falls on recruiting which we can and will solve. Just takes times. Watching our defense get gashed because entire sections of the field are completely uncovered falls on coaching. You can have a well coached defense that just lacks talent. We lack talent and coaching.

If you think Perkins needed to blitz more last night then you’re just wrong. Dude was swallowed up by big linemen and can’t set the edge. He’s not big enough for it

Then the guy has a problem. He's too small to be a LB, and he can't cover in space. Turn him loose as a hybrid safety, let him read and react, screw House's scheme that's overly NFL complicated

He needed ti blitz more, but his size has nothing to do with it. Like RBs need the OL to open holes, a blitzing LB needs the DL to open pass rush lanes. Most linebackers are not going to beat a lineman head up.

and the Jimmy's and Joe's are NOT going to come to LSU and play for our D staff. IF they all aren't gone at year's end and LSU doesn't hire a real coach and one that can recruit, expect the same next year yet again, without JD, the scramble king.

But do you upset the recruits who have known one staff this entire time? Does that put us back a few years again?

This is an actual fact and BK should not be coaching here because of it. LSU is a shell of its former self

Roster has a ton of issues and simply hiring Aranda back doesn’t address those.

That explains why none of them lit up Milroe in retaliation for Daniels.

Exactly. They have enough talent to fricking tackle which they can’t do either. This is just cope to excuse the piss poor job BK and House are doing at LSU

What evidence beyond recruiting rankings exists that Sage Ryan has “tons of talent”?
