This move is a predictable Miles move.
We need a change of pace QB, which is entirely Milesian.
We already had a good QB in Mett.
Now we have a bad one in Bolden just to keep the defense on its toes.
Yin and yang offense...perfect balance.

doesn't matter what the services ranked him as, he is a pass first player with enough athleticism to run.

his is a pure insurance move just incase mett was to go down so we at least have a qb with game experience

See, people keep saying this, but I think I'd prefer one of the guys who have been in the program for over a year.

Bolden doesn't even know our playbook, he doesn't know and hasn't ever thrown to our receivers, he hasn't worked with our center and Oline much to get a feel for cadence issues, etc. You think he is ready to be a backup this year?

again i will say in here. i dont care about his shitty stats on a shitty team.. the guy runs extremely well with the ball. especially the option. he runs with command and has tremendous pocket awareness. now his throwing is another story but his receivers did not do him any services.

If he is pass first adn it's his best attribute (39% completion and 2 td to 7 int), then I'm scared as frick to see how bad his running is.

Get real. Dude is a runner that PSU tried to make a passer.

We do need some depth at CB though.

The incredibly strange Miles/JJ relationship has a lot of us scared shitless about another duel threat QB coming in....I am so looking forward to having a real passing game for the 1st time in forever...Please baby Jesus let this just be about insurance and nothing more.

i seen this same opinion a lot and i disagree with this.
the other 2.. redshirted freshman only have one year up on him.. he has time to come in now and thru the season to adapt. i don't want to force freshman out there if it ever came to that again. it did lee and jefferson absolutely no good in the long run.

any ways i just want to see them all compete for the backup job. whoever wins so be it. even if he's 3rd string.. he is still worth it.

so, in 1 camp we have the "Miles is worried that the 2 RS-FR aren't ready so he's bringing in an insurance policy in case Mett goes down"...and in the other we have the "oh shite here we go again with Miles getting his option qb, Mett will be on the bench after his first frick up"

you can always count on the Rant!!!

Maybe Lee adn Jefferson never had a good QB coach and maybe they just weren't very good from the get go.

Lee was doing pretty good last year if you look up the stats. He made 2 bad passes against bama adn that was it for him. The offense was beastly before that. Go revisit the WVU film.

Also, plenty of Freshman started at QB and have gone out to have great careers. (bradford, Barkley, Henne, RGIII, locker) adn that's just off the top of my head.

I agree. The option shite seems to disrupt things. It worked out in '07, but often times it does not work out.

It worked in '07 becuase RP could throw the football. The kid is still hanging around on an NFL roster.

Moustache, your scenario is very interesting. You left out one very important item.
Alien abduction.
Miles would have to have a specific series of plays designed for Bolden to take over after the aliens kidnap Mett.
Other than that you are right on with your realistic and riveting analysis. Thanks

LSU is QBU You can never have enough QBs. Bolden likely will never play significant minutes. If he can make Rivers and Randall work harder to get the backup job then Bolden is a good pickup.

If this is the case, then I like the pick up.

The funny thing is 90% of LSU fans right now are shitting their pants thinking they have to endure watching a "running" QB piss his pants against Alabama. I can guarantee 3rd time won't be a charm for Bolden if he starts.

I'll wait until Bolden at least goes through 1 practice at LSU, before I start jumping to conclusions about the depth chart.

Purely depth. He would have transfered last year, maybe not to lsu, if that old frick would have released him. If nett goes down, we are back to 2008 starting a rsfr. Miles knows what kind of team we have and i think this is insurance in case we need someone to get us through 1-2 games.

The guy has less than 30 yards rushing in the past two seasons combined. It's figures out to less than a half a yard per carry, with his career long being like 15 yards.

But he's black though, so I guess he must be an option qb?
