i wonder if there was a deliberate plan with heavener and her rest days availability this year. didn't she have some recent injuries in high school?

I don't think that kind of plan would be executed in the postseason. She was warming up when they brought Berzon in.

Sure, but there was a definite plan that she wasn't pitching an entire game that game.

She probably felt Heavener had only one full game in her tank and she wanted to have her pitch against Nebraska. It obviously put the SLU game at risk, but I don’t necessarily think that was the wrong call to maximize the chance of winning the regional. I just don’t think Clopton was the right call over Vallejo. Clopton hadn’t pitched well in almost a month, while Vallejo had experience vs SLU from her McNeese days.

What beat our arse was all those unearned runs early in the game, not necessarily pitching. Bone headed defense. And we couldn’t score enough.

Hmmm...this is interesting. It's amazing how much trouble we have in recruiting and keeping pitchers when our coach is a 'pitching expert'. Syd is going to have to learn to make the routine throw to 1st base if she wants to play for a championship team.

Look I’m not trying to say she’s not injured or dealing w something but I don’t care what it is, there’s no excuse not making a 20-40 foot throw
