Switching over to Artificial Turf in Tiger Stadium is a great idea.

With a fast team like we have, an optimum speed surface is smart. The field will always be in tip-top shape. Not to mention the maintenance cost savings.
Those little rubber pebbles get in your shoes but our players are tough enough to handle that.
PS - If you dont think the playing surface is a factor, see the 09 Cap One Bowl vs PSU for reference.

The LSU AD has publicly stated that this is not going to happen.

Dude, the 09 Cap Bowl field was the equivalent of a muddy cow pasture after a stampede.

More and more these fields are everywhere. I would love for LSU to stay grass. Last year the hs team I coach for played on grass twice and that's including 3 playoff games. I want to keep LSU grass lets keep something the same in college football.

is nothing sacred anymore? No. Just no.

Not gonna happen.
Doesnt it have something to do with the agricultural department and how they do the work on the field?? Or something along those lines??

Seriously, that was the worst playing surface of all time.

Evidently, some have never played on artificial turf. I got to once - would prefer grass any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Let LSU be college. Instead of trying to turn LSU into the NFL, just go to a fricking NFL game.

There is no better playing surface than a well-groomed grass field. Period.
LSU has the luxury of not needing extra rental income from the stadium outside of the 7-8 games a year LSU plays there (with the exception of the country music deal they do). That means, they can work on the field between games and keep people off of it, keeping it in pristine condition all season.
This is in stark contrast to the Cap One Bowl where the grass field was chewed up by several other games, including high school playoff games.
If you have a high-traffic stadium, you want turf. If you only use the stadium for your home games, you want grass.
Which is why most of the SEC stadiums are grass.

On a hot day those black pebbles can give you third degree burns if you stay in contact with it long enough... Probably would melt the adhesive to their cleats as well...
