I may be mistaken, but isn't there a deal with Bayou Country Superfest that they pay for new sod each year after the concert?

Seriously, that was the worst playing surface of all time.
No doubt. Thick slabs of sod flying through the air. I dont remember any field in worse condition every, on any level.

From ATVS: The Superfest pays for Tiger Stadium to get a new field every year, due to the 100,000-ton stage destroying the grass

Plus, hasnt LSU already spent a bunch of $$$ in geoservices, draining and all that stuff going on below the field to keep the grass nice??

The field has definitely gotten a lot better over the last decade.

It does, which means LSU basically gets a new field every season. Best of both worlds.

LSU would be crazy to go to turf. It can afford not to have a high-traffic stadium. It can afford top-notch maintenance and drainage. And it gets the re-sodding paid for every year.

Why would you EVER go to turf?

NO NO NO idiot. People's faces would melt when they get tackled on a hot Louisiana September day.

Those turf fields outside become issues with footing particularly in south LA

I'm anxious to see if the addition of the SEZ upper affects the grass.

The biggest issue is the the grass not getting enough sunlight due to the East and West UD. Any more blockage could force LSU to switch to turf.

Why not run chilled water under a field turf field to prevent it from getting too hot?

Switching over to Artificial Turf in Tiger Stadium is a great idea.

Here's another great idea: Someone should add some sort of visible pipe to the undercarriage of Tiger Stadium.

The game should be played on grass.

I won't discuss this further. Grass.

Does PS stand for pure shite? Because thats what statement is

lol you're wrong as fugg, worst playing conditions i have ever seen, but the good thing about the playing surface in a football game is that all things are equal for both teams so there shouldnt really be an excuse

PS - If you dont think the playing surface is a factor, see the 09 Cap One Bowl vs PSU for reference.

Not in Tiger Stadium so this is irrelevant...

Isn't there a higher risk of injury on turf as well?

ETA: frick turf

Never thought of that. I wonder how much direct sunlight it gets out of the shadows each day.

Was actually 2010 C 1 Bowl, was there and was as misarable as can imagine especially 2nd half got chilly and we lost! And NO, will never go to artificial, who would really want to see this rather then a beautiful well manicured real grass field like TS now!

My brother's high school recently went to turf. Had 7-on-7s in early August. Used a laser thermometer and showed the turf at 150 degrees.
