re: SVP -"If you're LSU, and you beat Georgia, and you're not #1, that makes no sense at all"

I'm an OSU fan and agree that LSU should be #1 based on their resume. The wins LSU had against what those teams were ranked at the time is amazing. That being said, I think it is closer than many on this board are saying. Either way, both teams have had a great season and I hope to see them play in the playoffs.

This is a rational argument. I think the two teams are very close. LSU likely has the better offense and OSU likely has the better defense (though a case could be made that the defensive issues with LSU are not real and are inflated by the fact that LSU has gotten up big on opponents early and the defense loses focus/stops really trying).

The committee wasn’t going to move LSU to 1 this past weekend, then risk the possibility that UGA beats LSU this weekend. They would look foolish putting us at 1. Then dropping us to 2 after ole miss. Then bumping us to 1 after aTm then put OSU 1 after a possible LSU loss.

This is dumbass logic. Of course they can move the teams up and down. Not moving someone because they might lose is idiotic thinking. Ohio State could have lost to Penn State, or Michigan. Why didn't they just leave them at 2 to not have to risk dropping them if the lost?

See how stupid that thought process is?

You have posted 60 times on your first day on this site. Just trolling. Why are you here? I’m sure there’s plenty of OSU forums for you and your ilk

You can’t honestly be this stupid? There’s a reason ranked wins are recorded this way and it’s obvious. But when your view is totally myopic and anti substance this is what happens. Anytime the standards and rules don’t favor you you’re answer is to change the rules rather than win with the current ones.

At the time Texas was a top 10 team.

And that’s how ranked wins are recorded since the dawn of time in the football world. The reason being because to devalue a win would defeat the entire purpose. If Texas were 8-4 with a win over LSU they’d be ranked and nobody would question their quality making a loss more valuable than a win, essentially turning reality upside down. This is exactly the kind of anti-logic you have to use to place Ohio State above LSU right now. You don’t punish a team for beating a ranked opponent by retroactively using things they had no control over to devalue the win.

No one will stay within two touchdowns of LSU for the rest of the year. And I will be back to bump this post. Believe me

You are not number 1 until you win a title. Just beat Geargia.

Ohio st fans are part of the crowd that think beating penn st, mich, and wisky is better than winning at bama, at uga, auburn and florida. Idiots.

Good, by that logic, your assertions about Clemson being better than LSU and "probably better than OSU" doesn't hold water. If Texas isn't a top 10 win for LSU, because they stumbled after their title hopes were dashed, then by that logic, LSU and Clemson's common opponent should tell us exactly who is better, regardless of when they played.

Clemson is 2 touchdowns better than Texas A&M. LSU is 6 touchdowns better than Texas A&M. Ipso facto, LSU is 4 touchdowns better than Clemson. You can't have it both ways. Either Texas is a top 10 win for LSU, and teams change throughout the year based on prior results, or Clemson is clearly not as good as LSU, based on performance against the same team, since teams don't change based on results.

For the record OSU is awesome and so is Clemson. All three teams have a great shot at winning national title. But no way in hell should osu be #1 over lsu if we win this Georgia game.

Texas turned out to have some problems. Coaching probably hasn’t been stable In the locker room since week six. On top of that, they got beat down on opening weekend game day on national prime time tv. College teams struggle after big losses. They had Baylor rising and Oklahoma who has been an annual player for the last decade. Sure it isn’t as shiny a win now, but it’s better than all but one of Ohio States and that’s a fact jack.

Ohio State out recruits everyone in their conference. The only team that matches athletes is Michigan and they are a dumpster fire with a very weird coach. That’s the best win they have but it is an inflated one.

Would you guys rather play Clemson or Utah. Yeah us too. If we have to play them we at least want it to be in Atlanta not some ducking desert 1000 miles away.

LSU should be # 1 - NOW. Clemson, the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION, is # 3. (Mostly because of a weak win @ unc).

Meanwhile osu plays overranked B-10 teams and gets the benefit of the doubt.

I'll maintain this until the end of the season - the committee does not want osu to have to play both LSU and Clemson.

What is the motive of the committee for this?

No, the idiots are the ones that inflated the rankings of Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan in the CFP poll from what they’re ranked in AP or coaches poll while dropping Florida, Alabama, and Auburn lower than to try and keep Ohio State from facing Clemson because they don’t think you guys can beat them.
