re: Sunshine Pumper POV: Being as charitable as possible to BK about the Nuss injury situation

The injury definitely worsened. He had no real issues running the QB sneak vs Clemson and their DL but wanted no part of it on Saturday.

This is my biggest gripe in all of this. The coaches did absolutely NOTHING to help the situation. We should have been leaning on the run game and stout defense considering that we were facing the worst run defense in the SEC but we didn't even try to run the ball even when Ole Piss was dropping 8. We put our entire game plan on the shoulders of an injured QB with zero contingency plan.
I agree with almost everything in the OP. It's a logical explanation. But BK gets no charity from me. He screwed the Ole Piss game up bad.

I also don't think a healthy Nuss would've made that much of a difference last weekend, especially with how poorly the coaches and offensive staff got this team ready to play with their dog shite game plan.
Sloan: IN OVER HIS HEAD as OC.
Croom-Davis: IN WAY OVER HIS HEAD as OL Coach.
Wilson: Can't COACH UP his RB's to hit the right hole.
Hankton" Can't COACH UP his WR's to concentrate and catch the football.
Atkins: Brad Davis 2.0. Fired at Florida State. TE's have been invisible and the Running Game is still a disaster.
They're the 2025 Offensive equivalent of the 2023 Defensive Staff headed by Pennywise House.
NIL Money Bags recruit now. We no longer need "Used Car Salesmen" that can recruit well, but can't coach, on the staff. We need coaches than can actually coach up their players. That's what we have on Offense now.
BK9.9 is collecting those Millions of Dollars, (9.9 to be exact) coasting into retirement and doesn't give a flying frick either!

That's Sloan entirely imo. He has 0 patience to stay with the run. 0. He has never done it. We had 2 RB hand offs in the first half. In a game at one point that was a 7-0 LSU lead with the ball. We didn't try to commit to running it ONCE.

It’s obvious Nuss’s injury is prohibiting him from throwing the deep ball. Against Clemson, they had no idea that he had this injury and played 2 high the entire game, which gave our offense a little room to work underneath.
The pick on the first drive against LA Tech showed he couldn’t hit on the deep ball and teams caught on and played underneath.
If Nuss connected with Chris Hilton on that PI at the goal line against Ole Miss, I think that game turns out completely differently. He was wide open and severely under thrown. Not only would we have a 14-3 lead, Ole Miss would have had to respect the deep ball.
BK coming out today with the specific injury tells me that Nuss will be back to normal after the BYE, or teams already know Nuss can’t throw more than 20 yards down the field anyway so what’s the point in continuing to hide it.

Doesn't answer the question as to why you don't have backup come in for a series or have some designated plays to utilize his legs

This is my most charitable view of the situation, not saying I agree with it - I think Kelly is probably just lying about a lot of this.
I agree with a lot but what is missing here is this is not all BK. It is BK/Nuss/Sloan all weaving this narritive. BK is catching the heat because his role is Smokescreen Operator.
The other thing that is worrisome is that whatever evaluation was going on during the Ole Miss game failed to make sensible adjustments given Nuss’ performance level and OM defensive chess moves.

Nussmeier has played well below expectations all season for no apparent reason. Now we have some flimsy late to the party excuse from a coach who maybe lack credibility among some fans. I do not buy it.
Posted on 10/1/25 at 4:21 pm to KiaSportage22
Plausible but why sign off on a gameplan with no intention of seriously running the football knowing that your QB might still be playing injured? If this is all true, and he still signed off on the gameplan we saw, the most charitable takeaway is that Kelly lacked a tremendous amount of foresight

I mean I sort of get it I guess…
I just see a lot of coaches who don’t make a huge deal over sitting a guy for a drive. If you have no depth I get it, but with some decent experience behind Nuss I truly do not understand why trying to find a spark for the offense by giving Ole Miss a different look has to be like passing an act of congress.

Not sure how many times I had to qualify this post that I was not a fanboy and just genuinely trying to see the other side. I actually agree that Kelly probably lied about a lot of this and he's backed himself into a corner (and that he should have probably benched him in the second half of the OM game.)
Not calling you a fanboy, just saying what you posted is what a sunshine pumper would say.
The bottom line is Kelly has completely botched this entire situation. He should have given Nuss time to heal. He did not. We can only hope that Nuss can heal enough to be near 100 percent against SoCar.
My fear is the injury has been further aggravated to the point that one extra week is not enough time to get there.
Posted on 10/1/25 at 5:19 pm to KiaSportage22
It's an injury that gets better with rest, especially for a QB that is throwing it.
If he injured it in camp, it is clear he re-aggravated it in the Clemson game, and then again in the Southeastern game.
Reality is THAT he should have rested him partway through the UF game and let him either rest up until Ole Miss or even until after the bye week.
Instead, they let him play through it and likely made it worse. Now he should likely be out 3 weeks to heal with minimal activity, but instead, they will throw him out there still hurt and have their excuse for failing this season.
BK doesn't care about winning championships. He only cares about not looking bad and retiring at the end of this contract. It shows with his effort any behavior.

And don’t forget the other td haulsey saved by tripling the guy with his hand that was six if he doesn’t do that! The game changed when weeks had that silly penalty !

Heisman front-runner QB
I’m going to be honest, calling him a Heisman front runner before any games a have been played kinda hilarious.
quote:
He doesn't play very well vs. La Tech and UF, but you get the wins nonetheless - no reason to really sound the alarm yet. He's feeling the pressure a bit though, yells at a reporter. The offense is struggling but you see SELA as a chance to get Nuss more reps with his receivers against a weak opponent.
Or because he does play well against LA Tech and Florida and it’s obvious that he’s injured, you use the SELA game week to get the most important piece of your offense healthy. Instead they thought it was a good idea to run QB sneaks.

If he was as injured as he says he is, he should've sat him for SELU.
