I'm not defending Glenn's start today, but I sort of want to be the devil's advocate here and say that I don' think it's necessarily the case that any of the people mentioned could do a better job than he has so far.

To the person who said Rumbelow, was this like the first game you've watched?

That aside, we tried going with Bonvillian and that didn't really work out the way people had hoped. He struggled, and I'm inclined to say he's struggled more than Cody has at this point.

McCune's just not had enough time to get back or for us to even see what he's capable. He had a rough outing earlier this week.

As for the rest of the bullpen, it's sort of been an up and down kind of deal. Sometimes they'll come in and just be on, and others, well not so much.

To me, if you really wanted to shift around the starting roles this early in the season, I'd consider Cotton of Joey, but they're just too vital to situations like the one we saw today.

Maybe start relying on Cotton for more than just one inning down the stretch and try Joey out? I dunno. Just kind of wanted to run through all the options.

Good win today though.

Way too valuable out of the pen, IMO.

Cant say I agree with this at all. The reason Bonvillain lost his job was because Glenn was absolutely lights out. I'd have no problem with Brent starting on Sunday if Glenn can't go

Eta: or if Glenn struggles

Rumbelow looks better to me then glen also. But I don't know much about baseball. Seems like you would want to start your best pitchers. Glen could be a great closer no?

Closers need to be able to throw strikes, so no.

I think Bonvillain is a better pitcher than Glenn overall, but it's a catch22 because Brent seems to be better out of the pen in long relief. It's almost like he's in his zone there.

you saying this reminded me of Matty Ott... kid was a freak on the mound but was in his zone in a closer role. I remember him starting a few games in the 2010 campaign and his numbers were not that great as a starter compared to his closer numbers.

glad we picked up the series win today and I hope Glenn will be okay

Geaux Zone is worth the $40. Also I love catching the games on the Internet at my friend, Justin's place

How you figure? He started his Soph. year, and has experience. I agree I love him out of the pen, but this is not a permanent fix, I believe McCune is expected to eventually step back in to a starter role.

To me he's your best candidate at this time.

In short, there is no evidence to suggest he would be effective as a starter and it would definitely weaken the bullpen.

Glenn has the ability to give you 6 innings. Bonvillain can't even get to 4. That's why Cody should still start.

hopefully Glenn's injury isn't serious. I seem to remember the same thing happening to Ranaudo a few years back. But, I think he pitched the next week?

To the folks who keep harping on McCune, you have to remember that he is coming off an injury and has barely thrown this year. His first putting last week he threw a couple of innings and got knocked around a little bit by Southern. It's going to take time for him to get stretched out and comfortable with his pitches to get through a lineup for the third time. In SEC ball that's where they get to you. I'd be surprised if McCune gets more than a few weekend innings by the time we get into May.

That said, here's to hoping he gets his legs under shim sooner rather than later, because come postseason we'll need all the good arms we can get.

CPM has Cotton and Bourgeouis in exactly the roles he'll need them in for postseason. Who gives a shite about Sundays? There's only one Sunday in postseason and even that's not a certainty.

This team will get to Omaha. Every decision from here on out should be to tailor our team for the CWS format. That format favors two stud starters, a setup man and a closer.

Should we find ourselves in the losers bracket we'll need lot's of inning eaters, not just one more starter.

He's not starter material. You'd be disappointed in the results. He should see the lineup once and once only

He also has had a couple starts where he was pulled after 3.1 and 1.2 innings pitched while giving up 5+ runs. I have no problem with Glenn starting. I just wouldn't be against giving Bonvillain another shot if he starts to struggle a lot.

I do like having Bonvillain there on sunday to throw 2-3 innings in relief though.

How big was him getting hit by the ball, having enough to pick it up and go home....That saved us IMO....I think you have to go with Cody, just keep a short leash on him....Off topic a bit, but Van Horn getting tossed made my weekend!!!

If we continue to get the same mileage out of Nola and Eades, start Bonvillain and let him go his 3-4, then bring the pen(Rumbellow, Bourgeois, McCune, Cotton and Glenn. Bonvillain has started real good in his starts just falters in 4th or 5th. Maybe the more he gets out there the better he will be. If he pitches extended time in relief on Friday or Saturday, then start someone else.

He was in the 3 man rotation his Soph. year.
He's a much better pitcher now than he was then.
