He inherited a depleted roster which always takes time to rebuild. It’s also a time when all coaches are learning how to navigate portal and NIL. Look at how many other up and coming coaches have failed recently. It’s a tough job and takes time. It took Harbaugh about six years to really get Michigan rolling. This season sucks and I can’t argue that BK is not getting it done, but LSU fans also have no sense of reality. Very emotional.

Part of it is his mouth. Every year, he makes his team sound like they are Super Bowl contenders. He makes a transfer he picked up sound like the 2nd coming of Mean Joe Greene. Yes, you are supposed to build them up some but is the worst embellisher in history. Then, the first games around and they have to call time out the 1st series to get a play off. He runs his damn mouth too much.

I find it interesting that all of these national publications are coming out with these BK hit pieces. Seems like after Ole Miss these were not present.

Well, when you're not a likable person, people pounce when you're not doing well.

Sounds like everything I tried to say when he was hired here. Any criticism of BK at the time of hiring was taken down though sadly.

Same thing happened with Notre Dame last year and there was no end of Irish love.
ND beat three end of season top ten teams last year.
In 2019 they split their games vs Clemson, got destroyed in the second game.

LSU got a big name coach - not a big game coach.

Brutal.

Fine. ND had been bad and irrelevant since 1993. You got me.

They werebad in the Willingham, Davies and Weiss years

Exactly.

He appeared in one national Championship game in 12 years

And two playoff appearances

yeh that is why they were so butthurt he came to LSU. ND fans weren't wanting to fire Kelly...they just acted like they were tired of him after he left them to come to lowly LSU

Misleading. It would be very hard to fire him at ND but it was clear that his ceiling wasn't going to be winning a title at ND. Part of that was on the school but a bigger part of that was BK as a coach.

I thought a lot of his weaknesses would be covered by LSU as a program and the ability to recruit LA/MS/east TX better at LSU. At ND he struggled to get skill players and strong/tough defensive players. He was always good at getting great offensive lineman and TE's.

It appears that that hasn't been the case. His teams still lack grit and toughness, and coincidentally Freeman's teams have been extra gritty at ND the last few seasons.

LSU's party atmosphere and laid back fanbase was the perfect ying to the uptight a-hole yang of BK. Should have complimented each other in a way that didn't exist with the uptight ND fanbase. Go look at the ND message boards or Reddit page after home games and there are multiple complaints from people about stadium atmosphere and old people angry at young fans being rowdy.

If BK can't make the playoffs in the era of the portal by year 4 at LSU, it is almost a certainty he will never win a national title.

i couldn't disagree more for many reasons on this comment. For one LSU fans have higher expectations and less patience than ND fans when it comes to winning. My ND buddy was in complete shock and denial that CBK left ND for LSU while playing to make the playoff. He went 11-1 and just missed 4 team playoff and made the 4 team playoff in the previous year...my point is he wasn't on the hot seat when he came to LSU but after he left nd fans and media turned on him for leaving the blue blood that ND is for the swamp.

Look SW took a swing and struck out so far. BK is not as involved here as he was at ND.He thought that he could sit back and let his coach’s do the dirty work without a lot of input. He was wrong and now is on the verge of losing the locker room.He hired an incompetent OC and hasn’t intervened with this cluster F.He felt all he needed was more talent and not more coaching.

LSU didn’t believe him. It bought that Kelly could be something he’d never proven to be: a shark suited for the SEC's ruthless waters.

People here refuse to acknowledge the huge changes in CFB since NIL has been in place.

Evaluating Kelly like its CFB from 10 years is just not a fair take even if theres plenty of criticism, which there is.

I know the diehard fans are…. No consistency with our coaches the last 15 seasons. We are either #1 or we suck ourselves out of the top 25. Just want consistency.

I think most everyone acknowledges that

I'll give him credit for adapting to the use of NIL to acquire some hired guns, but he's still a guy who wins a lot of games, but never the big ones

He won at ND because all he had to do was beat USC, Penn St., and Navy. The rest where the likes of Mich.St., Northwestern, Illinois and so on. That aint the SEC, and he aint a SEC coach. Woody should have given him the Saban deal when he came here. If I win the National Championship, give me 1.00 more than the highest paid coach at the time.
