Maybe if the old shrimp boat captain would have hired a real offensive coordinator he could utilized Giles talents better

Look, he's a good recruiter and a good motivator, but he simply isn't very smart. He doesn't understand the impact of his words. He just isn't bright enough. I've just resigned myself to understanding this bafoon will never win any championships. He's a stupid man.

IIRC, wasn't that kinda part of the deal for coming?

Yeah, bad choice on O's part. He both owned it and jabbed Giles at the same time. Not sure if it was intentional tho

#7 should be earned not given. Last year it wasn’t earned. Time to move on. It’s that simple

Him saying he hopes he does a better job picking someone to rep #7 is quite literally him owning it. He could have been like yeah I don’t know Joe Alleva want that fricker Giles to wear #7 so I let him

I question the player evaluation on that one. It’s not just that he struggled, he just wasn’t good at all. Couldn’t really do anything particularly well.

I agree - hope not too many gift cards were dropped there.

I think we can all agree it was a bad choice, mainly coach O's bad choice and he's admitting it. It didn't work out well for anyone who cares about LSU.

I don't like a coach speaking about a player this way in the media but O hasn't done this before that I can remember
He made a few questionable comments about Brossette his junior year, after the Miss State loss. Also made some pretty harsh statements about the kicker that year, something along the lines of "we don't have a kicker". Guy wasn't very good, but we had someone on scholarship trying his arse off every game.

Some things just don't need to be said to the press.

People are too fricking soft. I'd much rather him say something like that then not. Now Giles is gonna try his arse off to show that O was wrong.

Giles is a grown arse man, he can take some criticism from his coach.

He did it to Brossette on several occasions. Brossette displayed nothing but great character. O has a history of throwing his players under the bus. He, also, did it to the linemen after the Bama game by saying that they weren't good enough. He recruited the bulk of the defensive linemen. I wish he would learn to do coach speak when it comes to commenting on the players.

This is where I'm at. He's a decent recruiter and a decent motivator. But he doesn't have what it takes to coach a team to a championship.

We have, and have had the players to win a championship since o took over. But he doesn't have what it takes to get to the top of college football, in my opinion.

That's a shame, but it is what it is.

He said this in regards to giving it to a transfer not how incredibly awful Giles was. Wink wink
