I've noticed over the last several years that students in Tiger Stadium are sitting down during game play. When did this phenomenon start? We used to sit before the game started, timeouts, and halftime. We never sat during the game.

About the same.

Like I would sit at the end of a ULM game once the crowd dies down and I was Just watching younger players.

I'm pretty sure this "phenomenon" started in 1894.

Yes, even in 2003 people sat in some areas of it.

Hey man, we've taken the athletic department back, we're about to take the president's office back, it's time to take the student section back.

I thought I noticed the same thing as well when the TV network would cut to the SS for a couple seconds.... it caught my attention but it wasn't clear.

Never sat.

I can remember sitting a lot during some of the lean Coach Stovall years.
The only game I remember standing the entire game as a student was 1979 against USC. I do remember my date sitting down during that game. I never asked her out again.

Student from 14-18. It would always piss me off when people would sit during the game. There were times when my buddies and I were the only few people around standing, even as early as the 4th quarter. It doesn’t help that the games are almost 4 hours long now but there definitely seems to be fewer “diehard” students nowadays compared to what I saw on tv from 2003-11.

We also haven’t competed for a title in 7-8 years so I’m hoping some continued success will bring back some of the magic.

My Dad was a student 60 - 64. He said the tradition was the students would sit after the first TD.

As a student from 88-92, we sat a lot in 1990 - 1991 because we sucked.

Depended on where you were sitting. Graduated 2016. The closer to the field you were, the more loco the students seemed to be. I only sat during timeouts, possession change and halftime.

People don't stand because they're blackout drunk. It's hard to stand for long periods of time when you're barely able to hold yourself up. It's hilarious that people bitch about this because every other section sits through the majority of the game.

Was there for the comeback win over Troy. Everyone that didn't leave the stadium when we were down 31-3 seemed to be sitting and I didn't exactly blame them at that point. When we started scoring that obviously changed.

One of the first games I ever went to my freshman year was Miss State in 2004. It was an 11:30 kickoff, hotter than the golden girls, and we killed them by 50-something to nothing. I remember laying down in the student section for that one.

But outside a couple outliers like that, I was always on my feet. I complained about it then, and now I complain when current students don't stand. Go figure...
