I know that my opinion of his play on the field is going to be biased; but, even if I try to look at his body of work objectively, it's almost comically terrible...I just don't understand how anyone can look at his play on the field and have any confidence in him being behind center.

I agree with you on the confidence part. Last year, even when Lee was playing well, I was never confident with him behind center. I am now, though...
As for JJ, I hope you're right. Maybe Krags worked some magic on him...I guess we'll find out soon enough.

The same could have been said about Lee prior to Crowton's removal.
I don't think Jefferson is a great QB. I don't think Lee is a great QB. To be perfectly honest, I think Mettenberger is probably the best QB on our roster.
That being said, neither Lee or Jefferson are nearly as bad as they've looked the last three years. They were in a no win situation. They've been forced to play in an offense that destroys NFL-caliber QBs. Once that hindrance was removed, I fully expected to see immediate improvement.

I was actually pretty confident in Lee before Crowton got the boot. but I'm much more confident now because I don't think the offense will put him in too many spots to make bad plays.

Do you really think that JJ is a good qb? And if so, how do you defend that claim?
His first four games of 2009, he threw for 7 TDs and 1 Int. That's compares very favorably to Lee's 6 TDs and 1 Int in 2011.
His first four games of 2009, he threw for 708 yards. That's compares very favorably to 2011's total passing (Lee + Mett)'s 716 yards.
Jefferson's last four games compare very favorably to Lee's last four games:
(1) LSU had more yards per game in 2010:
2010: 365 yards
2011: 350 yards
(2) LSU had more points per game in 2010, and
2010: 41.5 points
2011: 38.8 points
(3) Jefferson has a higher rating in 2010.
2010: 150.0
2011: 145.1
Then you add in the whole extra dimension of his running skills. In his first four games in 2009, Jefferson had 83 yards rushing. In his last four games of 2010, Jefferson had 142 yards rushing. Lee has -22 yards in four games this year.
So yeah, I think Jefferson is a good QB who had some bad games in 2010 but turned it around very nicely in the last five games of the season.

I defended JJ on here from 2008 to the second game of 2010.
His constant whining, sour demeanor, lack of leadership, screaming at teammates, and inability for accountability eventually made me not a fan.
And that's aside from the shitty qb play.
