Lee was visibly improved LAST YEAR, under Crowton. JJ was worse.
Lee was so improved that he was called on to win games LAST YEAR, under Crowton, while JJ was regressing.
Lee is now 2nd in all of LSU history for completions without an int, which actually started LAST YEAR, under Crowton. (the area he needed the most improvement)
Jarrett Lee was an effing Elite 11 QB coming out of high school, and we are finally seeing what he can do with a great defense, and reps with the 1s.
That is all. You may now return to your previous programming

The offense and Lee have tremendously improved with the release of Gary Crowton.
Anyone who doesn't see this needs to stop watching sports.

JLee was clearly better last year than he was in '08. He's also clearly better this year than he was last year. And it's intellectually dishonest to say that Jefferson didn't look much better toward the end of last season than he ever had. But why can't we support both? Why the division? They both have contributed more to LSU football than 99.99% of all of us and will both be suiting up in purple and gold. I'm a fan of each.

To quote Antonio Moss from another thread, because he wrote it so perfectly
quote:
Yeah, you're fricking stupid. Lee looked as lost as Jefferson in 2008. Lee looked terrible in 2009 in limited opportunity. And save for one drive against Tennessee and the Florida game (where Toliver broke four tackles in two plays to score), Lee looked incredibly ineffective as well. Also, to believe what you want to believe, you have to completely ignore the incompetent play of John Beck and Dennis Dixon under Crowton, and their equally incredibly improvement the second he left town. You also have to ignore the current complete regression of Danny O'Brien at Maryland. So basically, your argument boils down to this: While ignoring all other obvious factors, because Lee hit some great passes in a two week span in 2010, our offensive ineptitude for the past three years falls squarely on the shoulders of Jordan Jefferson.

What Hot Carl said squared.
Edited to add: dayum, and Antonio Moss too.

Lee really isn't playing that much better than he was last year, he's just finally getting a chance

Yup, its simple, we have a QB coach now. Any QB that sees the field will look better than last year. JJ won't start, but IF he sees the field, he will look better. And that idea bothers the hell out of people who like to hate players from their own favorite team.

However, bear in mind that on BOTH game ending drives against Tennessee or Florida, Lee got the benefit of a fourth down play. Jefferson did not have the opportunity to use fourth down plays in either game.
Without the fourth down play, Lee does not score on either drive against Tennessee or Florida.
LSU gained more yards in Jefferson's last four games in 2010, than in Lee's games in 2011.

Lee's numbers without the last drive against Tennessee and the Florida game last year:
38/70 54% 326 yards 4.6 ypa 0 TDs/1 Int
Lee played great in those two instances despite the ineptitude of Gary Crowton.

this is a really unfair game to play. If you take out his best games, of course what's left will look crappy. That's true for any player.

It's not a knock on Lee. I'm just making the point that Lee playing really well for five quarters doesn't mean our offense was going be awesome with him in the game.
And to even further the point, Jefferson had a good game against Florida as well.
