Since everyone knows I'm completely unbiased and factual in my posts. I'll say this. I've never been a fan of JJ, but he did have some aweful play calling that put him in good positions to actually not succeed. When he was having a bad game, he was forced to continue on when another fully capable qb may have been a good change of pace and would have allowed him to collect himself and go back in later in the game. He even would be playing half way good and would be yanked to give JL snaps and would come back in out of rhythm. Bottomline, JJ got a raw deal as far as coaching and play calling. He crapped the bed and was made to lay in, and roll from side to side in it.

you act like Lee lit it up last year.

He played a pretty big part in us winning at Florida and beating Tennessee at home.

He also contributed in the Alabama game.

How many pick sixes did he throw last year?

JLee was clearly better last year than he was in '08. He's also clearly better this year than he was last year. And it's intellectually dishonest to say that Jefferson didn't look much better toward the end of last season than he ever had. But why can't we support both? Why the division? They both have contributed more to LSU football than 99.99% of all of us and will both be suiting up in purple and gold. I'm a fan of each

Carl, I believe we're seeing so much division because no matter how poorly JJ played last season, his starting job never seemed to be in doubt. Jarrett Lee never started last year after abysmal performances by JJ and after Lee salvaged wins against teams like Tennessee and Florida. If not for J Lee, we likely lose those two games and have a 3rd consecutive year of 4 losses or more. He made improvement last year even with limited action. JJ seemed to regress. Was he playing better toward the end? yes. But better was not great. Was he winning games for us? I don't think so. He had two passing TD's and one rushing TD in the last 4 games of the regular season. Fans are worried, I as a fan am worried that Jarrett Lee is not going to be given the same latitude JJ was given despite much better performance because Miles showed an allegiance to JJ when he was playing so poorly that was hard for fans to fathom. Fans are worried that Miles is going to reinsert JJ into the starting role because of that prior allegiance to him despite his play. It's a legitimate worry. We hope he's not going to do it based on what J Lee has done this year, but the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior and many of us are concerned that Miles' past behavior of allegiance to JJ will return. May not seem logical, but then what about Les Miles is logical?

Lee was visibly improved LAST YEAR, under Crowton.

uh, not to the extent that he has this year, under Kragthrope. Last year, Lee wouldn't throw to the slant against tight one-on-one like he's been doing this year.

Lee got the same latitude in 08. I have no idea how fans dont understand that Les just wants to avoid changing his starting qb midseason at all costs. JJ isnt his pet no more than lee was his pet when he was throwing pick sixes (thank God thats over )

this is a really unfair game to play. If you take out his best games, of course what's left will look crappy. That's true for any player

Agreed. To be fair, what were JJ's stats taking out Ole Miss and the Aggies?

The 4th down pass to TT against UF differs with you. They wouldn't call it regularly, apparently fearing the ricochet pick effect (our receivers occasionally drop passes right to them).

For commando, JJ's last 5 games, 3 vs sec west.

53/86 788 yds 5 td 2int
169 yds rushing 2tds

How is that not improvement?

He also had 1 rushing td against Ms. State, 2 against UF, 1 against UT, 1 against Ole Miss, 1 against Auburn, and 1 against aTm.

Every black caller on wwl has been calling for JJ to start. Doesn't matter how well lee has played in 4 games. JJ was the starter in the spring and should be the starter now

Prayers sent.

If there is one group of people dumber than people on the rant, its the people who call into local sports shows.

First, it's drives not games.

Second, I discount them because both drives rely on converting on fourth down. It is not standard practice to use fourth down to convert. Those two drives are not standard drives. Thus, those two drives should be discounted.

Honest question: from reading some of your posts in the past, you seem like a pretty reasonable/intelligent poster. Do you really think that JJ is a good qb? And if so, how do you defend that claim? I can't stand the kid (I think he's a whiny a-hole who exhibits none of the traits of a true leader), so I know that my opinion of his play on the field is going to be biased; but, even if I try to look at his body of work objectively, it's almost comically terrible...I just don't understand how anyone can look at his play on the field and have any confidence in him being behind center.

As long as they are not the actual coaching staff you have nothing to worry about.

Well Lee should absolutely be the starter now and for the rest of the season (sans serious regression, which I don't think will happen).

But JJ should also absolutely get some playing time. He's "earned it", just like everyone said JL has. And with the improvement JL made under new coaches, I'm excited to see the improvement JJ has made. Could also benefit us to give some defenses a few different looks a game. But JL is still the head guy, and should get 80+% of the snaps.
