take out the Defense/Sp Teams generated points for a true OFFENSE...also consider the opponents

When somebody says "problem number one", they are implying "exclusively"...just like you were.

Yes, I do. Thus my comments about execution this year. Do YOU realize we averaged 35.7 in the SEC last year?

The incompetence of the coaching staff was demonstrated in the play calling sequence after we recovered a fumble at Florida's seven yard line.
The " Miles philosophy" would call for running the ball up the gut, four times if necessary, to take advantage of the emotional lift that the turnover created and establish some physical dominance over Florida.
The first play was a run and picked up almost 4 yards. Good start. Line up and hit them in the mouth again.
But it turns out that Miles doesn't have a philosophy. Instead or running again, he tries a pass to a new fullback who has never caught a pass before.
Wen that fails, he calls time out. The staff then gives Mett the wrong play number, forcing Mett to call another timeout. After a second timeout, the play call was a halfback jump pass, but Florida wasn't in a goal line defense and Mett couldn't call another time out, so we had to run a play that had no chance of working against the defensive alignment.
Poor, poor, poor coaching. No other explanation and no excuses.

In all fairness, tell me what Sean Payton would do with the Tigers this season.
Mettenberger is slow with his reads. The injury-depleted offensive line has trouble maintaining protection long enough to give him time to go though his progression, and often the WRs aren't gettting open. When he does get the ball out, Mett misses a good number of passes. When he does hit the WR, they often drop it. When they catch it, they then sometimes fumble.
This isn't the offense we hoped to see; and I doubt it looks anything like it's drawn up.
All that being said, if Beckham doesn't fumble the long pass, we still might win yesterday. As it was, losing by 8 on the road to Florida isn't anything to be ashamed of.

OK....Last year the OFFENSE averaged 28 per game when taking out defensive scoring.

Serious questions - What were the passing statistics? What were the total YPG?
I ask because shorter fields are easier to convert into points. This year, LSU has faced long fields and cannot sustain drives.

maybe you should look up LSU's total offensive ranking the last 5 years. Total offensive ranking doesn't take into account defensive and special teams TD's like scoring offense does.
I'll answer. Recent offensive rankings -
2008 - 55th
2009 - 112th
2010 - 86th
2011 - 86th
2012 (through 10/6, after playing Towson, NT, and Idaho) - 76th

If the team isn't ashamed of the offensive performance yesterday, they don't belong in the SEC.

i dont believe I have ever read a more ignorant collection of comments from anybody on here. You seriously lack the ability to process your thoughts. Think before you write.

Exactly. Back to back timeouts, because no one had a clue what was going on.
And then, on arguably the most critical possession of the season thus far, we hand it off to a player who hasn't seen the field all year.

Please get out of denial

He's got all tha talent you could possibly have on offense and he can't do shite with it bc he's to damn predictable. Everyone knows what he's gonna run before they even do tha play. Open you eyes and relize that shite.

take out all those defensive and special teams TDs and get back to me. Miles took control of the offense after the year Lee had a monopoly on pic 6's.

In the Times Picayune this morning, there was an article that said the reason for the back to back timeouts was an issue with the headsets. Not that I'm taking up for Les Miles...

Probably from Miles' postgame comments. Still, can't blame technology on that sequence.

Mett said in his post game interview that he called the second timeout because the coaching staff gave him the wrong wristband number for the personnel package.
The headset malfunction is a lame excuse. If the headsets were malfunctioning they would have told the refs and, by rule, Florida would have had to turn off their headsets until the problem was resolved.

OLine has been decimated by injuries this year. Our Oline issues are problem NUMBER ONE and, unfortunately, injuries can't be coached up.

Funny...
Our defense lost the Thorpe Award Winner, the Bednarik Award Winner, a 1st Round NFL DT, a starting LB to grades, and a 3-year staring safety to the NFL and they still manage to be one of the best defenses in the nation.
Maybe coaching DOES have something to do with it...
Comparing our depth on defense to our depth on offense is laughable. The gameplan works with the right personnel. We saw it last year. Hell, we even saw it earlier this year before all the injuries.
I'm not saying the coaches deserve no blame. Its their job to figure out a gameplan that works around those injuries, but losing an all-American LT and our staring running back is killing us right now.
