After a certain point my PTSD kicked in and I thought they were trying to pull off a hidden ball trick. Or maybe they just wanted Marceaux to sit for a while

No. Thompson showed bunt on the first pitch and then took the second one. He was absolutely bunting on the 3rd one if you look at his stance, but they balked instead.

Beloso was standing on the bag during the throw on one attempt and held his hands out like WTF?!?!!!

Oregon was obsessed with holding base runners for some reason all game! It seemed to get their pitchers out of rhythm. Glad it cost them cause it was an obnoxious and boring attempt at part of the “mental” game when this wasn’t that kind of game! Both teams were locked in to every pitch and weren’t getting picked off!

Yea they were checking for the squeeze but he showed 3 times when they threw over. It was idiotic and cost them major. Never seen a sequence quite like that lol.

The throws to first were just to check to see if Thompson was squaring around to bunt. It had nothing to do with Beloso. They definitely overdid it though and wound up confusing themselves.

You see clueless as usual.

Oregon was trying to see if we were going to square to bunt. A bunch of times. It's a common tactic in baseball.

But, ignorance is expected from you so carry on with your bad takes on everything.

The balk was on his 5th throw over.

Has anyone counted how many times he threw over. It was at least 8 times

I was to get Thompson to show bunt, they overthought that one

Scouting report says LSU can't bunt, too.

They were trying to prevent a squeeze bunt, or at least make lsu think twice about trying out a squeeze. Pretty simple. Had nothing to do with Beloso. It could have been my grandma at first and they would have still thrown over

I think the single smartest thing Paul did was, after two throws over to first, he had Thompson show bunt and take a pitch.

That mind-fricked them and they couldn't recover.

You’re taught to show bunt on a pickoff if you’re not bunting. The whole thing was basically baseball at it’s best/worst all at once.

Or it was to catch doughty breaking to the plate if it were a suicide squeeze.

Can an ump actually do anything if a pitcher just chooses to continuously pick off indefinitely?

If it was just to check, why were the first and third basemen already crashing? That was complete confusion. That’s the result of pressure.

Somebody missed a sign. You saw the catcher put his hands up like "Noooooooooooo!!!!"

The ball was pressure. The shite up to that was strategy.

It was actually the right strategy- they had the bunt sniffed out. The pitcher just screwed up.

To try and get them to commit to the hunt and run their stupid swing play. Way too many tries and ultimately cost them the game. Mainieri actually out coached them today
