Bc he isn’t and never was good enough to play on a team competing for an SEC title…

Will Wade mistakenly thought that Eric Gaines athleticism was more important than having basketball skills.

I disagree. He looks really solid so far.

He’s a mediocre SEC player a role player on a good team. Wouldn’t start on any ranked team in America all due respect

He didn't run Cook off. Wade refused to guarantee Cook playing time, and he left. Cook wasn't happy with his FR playing time, and Wade didn't care.

He never played him. Another way of running a player off

Look at his numbers when he played versus Gaines. He even averaged more points than Gaines even though he barely played. And I liked Gaines. Gaines was great on D, but was a major liability most of the time on offense.

Wade liked to play a switching defense ....cook didn't fit this scheme with his size

He was behind better players and really didn't do anything when he played.

You could also look at the other players on the team when those two were freshman. They had Cam Thomas, Javonte Smart, Trendon Watford, and a top 10 offense. They needed defense so Gaines played over Cook. It’s that simple. Gaines fit the needed role for that specific team more than Cook. Doesn’t mean Wade thought Cook sucked or that he wanted to get rid of him.

That's true and he talked about how excited he was about Cook, but Cook did seem to just get way too little playing time because he looked pretty good on D too.

And both of them are better than anything McBland has put on the floor in his illustrious career at LSU. They were both young subs on a conference winning program. Now we are arguing who was the best 10th or 11th best player on Wade’s squad. Cook is the best on this shell of a team. Oh how I miss MBB at LSU

Gaines sucked.

He left LSU and went to UAB and averaged 11 points a game. Still shooting around 20% from 3 point range.

Revisionist history at its finest.

Cook’s final 2 out of the portal was Kansas and us. Dude could’ve gone A LOT of places and wanted to come back

Gaines is terrible.

Wade recruited Xavier Pinson and Adam Miller, which is what ultimately ran Cook off
