Yep. Hill being your Friday night guy.

I think a better question would be is "who would be the next guy up". If one of those three had to be replaced.

Kaminer is going to be your midweek starter so I would guess he would be first.
The freshman Ty Floyd projects to be a Friday night guy by the time he leaves LSU. I am sure he will start the season out of the pen but if needed he would be an option as well.

Hilliard has been a good starter previously also

It’s been pretty clear who’s gunna start

The obvious rotation is Hill. Marceaux, Labas, and that’s what CPM plans to go with for the SEC schedule. And these pitchers fit those roles perfectly. Hill is a dominant power pitcher; Marceaux is a guy with great pitches who can dominate on Saturdays, and Labas is the control guy who will draw contact and not walk people, which is what you want on Sundays.
The only thing keeping this rotation from being perfect is that Hill has never really been stretched out. That might change the rotation early in the season, flipping Marceaux and Hill, so Marceaux can conserve the BP on Fridays, but I’d rather they keep it as H/M/L. Once they are stretched out we are likely to need BP innings more for Hill’s start than the others. Throwing him on Fridays would give a day of rest for a couple of key relievers to pitch twice.

I know they want to ease Hill into longer and longer outings. Not rush him at all so I think the plan going into the season is going to be get wins on Fridays with Hill going 5-6 innings then Beck then Fontenot each getting you 4-6 outs. The next two days you have two guys that you know can go deep into ball games and the rest of the deep bullpen to win at least 1 of the other 2.

Who you kidding. At least 2 will have arm issues 3 weeks into season

Where do you think Hilliard fits in? I see him as the closer this year

You see him as the closer over Fontenot?

Hilliard is definitely not going to be the closer.

Not a chance in hell.
Fontenot is your closer guaranteed.
Beck will be your setup or high pressure guy. Might be the 8th inning or it might be a bases loaded one out close game in the 6th inning situation. But he’s your get out of trouble arm.
Hilliard will be a long relief or matchup guy. He won’t be used in many intense situations.

Hilliard is not going to be the closer but it sure would be nice to see a return to his freshman season form. I’d love for him to be a guy we can put in there to get one sure out to end an inning before going to Beck or Fontenot.

I would too but I think that’s going to be more Vietmeier role. At least until Hilliard proves he can be trusted again. Lord knows I want him to that curveball is deadly when he’s locating.

Hilliard is a long relief innings eater, low leverage guy in a perfect world.
