I mean Stanfield didn’t look too hot that series either.

Did anyone look particularly good in that series?

When the ball is over his head Curiel looks lost out there
I agree
I think Curiel should go back to left

Are we judging him on a play where he was put out of position by coaches and would have had to make an outstanding play on the ball just to get there?

Players don't put themselves out of position. They go where the coaches tell them to go.

He's been solid in CF

He was shallow, but not out of position. He turned and sprinted and lost the ball and didn’t have to. It

He misread how deep and how hard it was. He should have turn and ran and tracked it and he would have pretty easily ran under it for as long as it hung in the air

A glove side fly you should not be turning all the way around
This is the #1 point people are missing by stating he was simply out of position.

He may have been poorly positioned by the coaches, but he got turned around on a glove side fly ball.. Regardless of depth, wind, etc. if you’re playing CF at LSU every time you’re made to look silly it’s amplified, it’s just the way it is.

Ball started out to his left with tailspin and a helping wind. Yes, he got turned around trying to track it, b/c he immediately recognized it was deep and would require damn near full speed with his back to the ball.

Playing shallow has allowed him to easily steal possible singles in short CF. They or he just chose the wrong batter to be in that position

I recall Stanfield last year struggling with less difficult plays. Personally, I’ll take either at any OF position and not feel like I’m risking liability

Looked to me like he had a soft cast on his hand last night in the dugout. Since SEC play starts next week, I don’t envision he’s playing anywhere “come SEC play”….

It's no negative on Curiel but Stanfield is a ++ center fielder. That's his real value for being in the lineup. If he doesn't play center, he probably shouldn't even be in the lineup given his lack of power and our lack of use of his speed on the bases. I was holding out out hope before the season started that maybe they would just let Curiel play center all season then make the switch in May some time...

Okay. I disagree. Like I do with pretty much everything you post on here. Any time I have the opposite opinion of you I feel more confident in my opinion.

Yes and that is ok, I understand the scope of baseball that you consume is strictly confined to lsu baseball. You do not really know what a ++ CF actually looks like

This is an absolutely horrific take. I took the bait, I can’t help it. Curiel being the 3rd best defender. lol.

What have you seen that makes you think he’s better than Jake Brown?

I like all 3 of our outfielders but they have their pros and cones

Stanfield I think has the most range but his arm is meh
Jake has the best arm but he makes mental errors more than the others
Curiel has slightly less range than Stanfield but a better arm.

You see how shallow he was? It’s wild he almost even made the play. Stanfield wouldn’t have caught that one either. He woulda tripped over his hat back tracking

Stanfield dig notwithstanding, it was an almost impossible play based on how shallow Curiel was playing. I am not sure what the reasoning was for that with two outs and a big lead.

Curiel didn't take the best angle, but he had to guess based on how hard that ball was hit and how shallow they had him positioned.

He's a better defensively CF than Curiel. He reads the ball better, he gets a better jump than Curiel, he's more fluid than Curiel. Nobody said Curiel was bad in CF its just that Stanny is better defensively than Curiel in CF.

Was he really out of position? Because some posters think he was and some think he was not. It doesn't really matter he looked like a fish out of water on that play. Not saying he looks like that all the time but on that play he was lost. In position or out of position he was lost on that play.

Except for that one hit that caught him playing too shallow, that was his best game of the year IMO. Crazy he gets criticism after this game, never underestimate the Rant, lol

Don't see the hype on stanfieleld . He's not that good of a hitter. We have others who can play outfield that's a better hitter
