Win or lose, he definately deserved it. This guy pitched his arse off and showed he's a minor/major league pitcher......I'm a die hard LSU fan, but respect talent

so honestly, what keeps you from cheering from the kid who hit a HR in the 1st inning for them? or the next guy that homered? Those were nice hits!

This is truly rantarded. I was there and when the SLU starter was going out I was standing and clapping b/c the momentum was swinging our way and I knew it was on. SLU pitcher is coming off the field at same time. Yeah he did alright. I'm thinking, "Nice effort guy but its bout to be on. I'll give a couple claps for a local guy. " It didn't help them in anyway. They knew as well as the rest of us what was about to happen.

and he will win at just about any cost.

It was just bad timing. not to mention the numerous SLU fans on hand that were there to cheer the team on.

See this I don't understand and is a great point. Why is it okay to clap for a gutty performance by the pitcher yet not when a player hits a HR...and not even to take the lead. Even if we are kicking the shite out of Louisiana-directional school & a kid hits a 500 foot bomb in the top of the 9th, we don't clap for that.

Is this another one of those threads filled with LSU 'fans' who didn't attend the baseball game criticizing LSU FANS who actually went to the game??

That's just so precious....

My thoughts exactly. This thread is so full of stupid it's, well, the Rant.

And unless I missed something, I don't believe that the word "Cheer" would be appropriate. LSU fans (you know, the people who actually go to games) generally politely clap when the starter leaves. I clapped because I has happy that LSU had finally knocked him out of the game and we could slap around their bullpen (which happened).

because it was probably due to the pitcher serving up a meatball...I think most baseball fans appreciate a good pitching performance, although I don't really get the standing ovation part, a nice round of semi-enthusiastic applause is appropriate.

I've been going to the Box for quite a while now and LSU fans don't do this. Again, y'all act like the LSU fans are fighting each other to get on the field and felate the opposing team. They'll stand and clap (not yell or cheer, clap) if the other team makes a truly great play in the field or when the opposing team's starter leaves the game. Both of those also acknowledge something positive for LSU; either they had a hell of a hit and got robbed or the offense did enough to chase the starter. Nobody claps when the other team scores.

SB was over the top. This isn't that.

Yes. Who counts rings won not as a head coach? He had a brain cramp and thought Skip won all of our CWS titles. Then he tried to cover it up with a head fake for Skip's time as an asst at Miami. I guess that means Smoke Laval has 4 rings, right?

Wasn't Bouman going to start today?

The drama queens are out again. Players shouldn't dog pole after winning the SEC tournament, coaches shouldn't want players to be more consistent, and fans at a regional game shouldn't express appreciation for what they see as a good effort or whatever reason people were applauding.

Some need to chill the frick out and enjoy the winning without always finding something to bitch over.

Long-time Tiger fan (I remember big Ben going in and closing down an awesome A&M team in the 80's)...

I really don't get this "most knowledgeable fanbase" crap. Knowledgeable fans would realize their team was in a hole, facing an opponent whose entire season would be made with an upset of the favored home team. You don't cheer the other guys when your team is losing, especially if/when your team is playing poorly and the season is in jeopardy. You try to motivate your team and intimidate the other guys.

Back when we had 6 team regionals, it was cool to applaud a scrappy lower seed for making it to the final. But still, you only did it when they played other teams, or once you finally broke them down.

Screw this "I'm a fan of good baseball" crap, I'm a fan of LSU.

Maybe our fans just got mixed up since their team name has the same letters as ours.

But seriously, I can see some small points on both sides, but the bottom line is... scoreboard.

Right on BRAH! Screw everybody else.
No reason to appreciate the competitiveness of an opponent.
No reason to show any sportsmanship.
No reason to respect the effort and/or talents of opponents
No reason at all because we are LSU and our fans are badass.
