Is Tiger stadium optimized for being loud? Seems like the bottom of the Lower bowl could be steeper and closer to the sideline (like the swamp)

100 year old stadium. We got what we got, they’re not redesigning it

They could retro fit it

They’d probably have to do something similar to what they did with Kyle Field and take down sections at a time and rebuild them. Kyle Field was a multi-step process that took several years.

For big games, TS is louder than most I have been in which is quite a few. We are louder than: UGA, Bama, OMiss, A&M, Texas, Florida, and Auburn.

It amazes me that anyone thinks we need more noise.

I think it is optimized to be loud. The lower bowl is pretty steep, enclosed and close to the field.
The problem with the new Alex Box is that the stands are not steep. not enclosed and not close to the field.

I’m with you. I’ve been to several SEC stadiums. The only one I thought was louder than Tiger Stadium was Neyland. And that was 20+ years ago. I’m not sure it’s still louder than Tiger Stadium. I’m really not even sure what the OP’s complaint is here because this stadium is widely lauded as one of, if not the loudest, in all of college football.

Where's the historical noise survey data. I've been in very loud games in different Tiger Stadium seats since the late 70s. The measurements obviously need to be made on the field. Let's see comparisons.

Whoa! Just Googled loudest and this came up:

What is the highest decibel level ever recorded in college football? The loudest decibel level recorded in college football games is over 130 decibels, and this was recorded in Tiger Stadium at LSU and Husky Stadium at the University of Washington.Aug 27, 2024

husky stadium is weird. It has a top over it like this:

See those overhangs on the sides? Those trap noise in. Technically, husky stadium is stupidly loud, but it’s not a roar of the crowd; it’s a constant sound from sound waves bouncing back and forth. Since it is technically louder then tiger stadium and has half the people, it’s a pretty innovative environment

Husky Stadium also did a complete rebuild some years ago. It was after LSU played there in 2009, I know that.

The original part of the stadium wouldn't pass inspection or codes today, but it is grandfathered in. Remember they raised those seats when the dorms were installed under Huey Long, so that holds the sound in.

Tiger stadium doesn't need any help from architectural acoustics lol. It's already plenty loud.

Most? Name one louder bc I would love to go to that stadium.
I've never been to one louder. Most sports announcers say it's THE loudest! And it's not even close

No thank you- Kyle field is the most Asymmetrical stadium I’ve ever seen. It looks terrible on TV.

It took two years. They demoed one side and rebuilt it for the first season. Demoed the other half and had it ready for the second season. Pretty impressive really.

I have been to the old stadium, the half new stadium and the completely new stadium.

One of the reasons it is loud. It is setup acoustically to be loud. The South Carolina game years ago where we had about 40K for the game convinced me of that. SC had to move their home game to Baton Rouge because of flooding. Crowd was enthusiastic and loud.
