Spring FB development is lacking and rosters lack depth

Good read.
Looks like this is a problem in a lot of places. Especially interesting to hear Kirby Smarts comments: “We have never in seven years been this thin. Ever been this thin,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart recently told reporters. “You can point a finger and blame anywhere you want, but it’s the life of a college football coach now. You don’t have depth. Those guys are a little higher maintenance in terms of thinking of themselves. They expect to play right away and go.”

Very interesting. Not one ounce of pity for any of em. They created this mess. Let them live in it. They devalued a great college football scene. Screw Kirby, Screw Dabo, Screw Napier....Everyone could see this coming. Wait until the level of play falls to shite next year too.

Seems like a communication issue. If you tell them through their entire recruitment that they're best things since sliced bread, they don't take it well when they aren't in the lineup day 1.

Now we're taking recruiting visit pictures of them sitting on a throne, holding someone else's Heisman, cradling the National Championship trophy.
It's not stopping anytime soon. My interest is waning.

Sorry, must be out of the loop. Why specifically these 3 coaches?
Edit: Never mind, should have read the article first.

Honestly, I think BK will excel in this regard. Every coach will struggle with these issues, but the hyper-controlled guys like Nicky and BK may have a better end result...

Why specifically these 3 coaches?
Fans need to quit being crybaby asses when their team isnt dominant as well.

All the more reason to pull for the Iowa's, NDSU, & K-States of the world. Fun to watch programs that put out 4-5 year guys who earned it.

K State pretty much overhauled their entire roster last year with portal transfers, playboy

Tbh Notre Dame does the same thing too, esp during the BK era

The big dogs will suffer a little bit from what they’re used to. Those five stars Georgia signed don’t have to sit on the bench anymore. They can got to South Carolina for example and play right away. This after getting their nil sign on money from Georgia. So there’s going to be more parody also. Teams are going to have to adjust.
Expect a mass exodus at aTm the next few years. The teams who win the transfer portal will be the big dogs now.

quote:I feel like some NIL regulation would help this a little. Stop the charade of “you can’t lure players with nil money”. Everyone knows that’s complete bull shite. You can’t regulate what you won’t acknowledge is happening and are unable to control. Acknowledge it. Allow it. But regulate it somehow. Regulate it in a way that can be controlled. How? I don’t know. But I think that’s what is needed here.
Transfer portal rules must change.

I said this from the jump. LSU may have had wild ebbs and flows with our 'model' from our last two coaches, but the National media types always failed to mention just how much attrition LSU has had from players leaving early for the draft, bc that was the model we were selling, but they just blindly would call our program 'inconsistent'
A&M is going to be in a world of hurt having to deal with a ramped up 'me first' mentality now that they bought a roster of players for big money and big expectations of playing time. - Either the guys who are mad they waited a little bit and are getting passed over will leave, or you sit the big money freshman and they leave from not playing.

So he wants to win championships but not deal with the aftermath all the other programs deal with after winning a natty ?

Maybe Kirby should start recruiting 8-10 2 and 3 stars that'll stay and be his depth instead of top 250 players.

I see this as a major advantage for the tigers. We deep at every position

I’d love to see Georgia fall off like we did lol welcome to the basement.

TikTok/Instagram generation. They think they’re entitled to start day 1 and when you shoot straight and tell them you’ll give them the opportunity to COMPETE for a starting job, they think it should be handed to them. I can damn near guarantee that, along with a shite ton of NIL money, is how Jimbo got the haul he did this year. I expect half of them to transfer within two years.
