The SEC is 7-4 vs. other BCS conferences so far, best in the nation.

that's debatable. The SEC and Pac 10 is a quality vs quantity debate.
Clearly the top 2 teams are in the SEC, but the Pac is deeper with good teams.
Programs that have been very good of late: LSU, UGA, UT are all down this year.
12-0
11-0
8-3
8-3
7-4
vs.
9-2
8-3
7-3
7-3
7-4
That's debatable? Their best team, Oregon, was dismantled by Boise State.
The Pac-10 looks like they always have, only it looks different because USC is in a down year.

so the third and fourth teams in the other conferences are so damn good?
So Oklahoma would kick LSU's, Ole Miss's, and Tenn's arse? You think the 3rd or 4th Big ten teams would do the same?

I found this on a different message board. Notice that the SEC is only one win better than the Big East.
1) SEC .................. (none) ................ ........

6) Big 12 ..................(none)...........................

The Big East moves up to #2 and the Pac 10 falls to #3, thanks to
Pitt's win over Notre Dame, the only qualifying win by a BCS
conference team yesterday.
METHOD:
In comparing the BCS conferences, i count 4 kinds of results:
wins against BCS conference opponents
wins against non-BCS conference opponents, if ranked in top 25 at time
of game
losses against anyone outside of the conference
.. and Notre Dame counts as a BCS conference opponent, ranked or not

These teams all have losing conference records. This means the became bowl eligible by padding their OOC schedule and beating up on crappy teams.
How exactly does one measure the strength of a conference with conference games? That's just silly. You measure it with OOC games ...Which we will find out when bowl season rolls around and the SEC ends up 7-3.

San Francisco Chronicle said the same thing last week. Of course, the PAC 10 was the best conference in the land according to them.

The point is that the SEC's OOC schedule is padded with FCS and non-BCS teams, for the most part. SEC teams typically play some of the weakest OOC schedules around.
Without these easy OOC schedules, we do not have 10 bowl eligible teams, period.

Take us for example.
We scheduled three Louisiana teams and a bottom-of-the-barrel PAC 10 team that gave us all we wanted.

Yes, but as I pointed out earlier in this thread, that has been said of the SEC for the last several years, and it doesn't matter.
Last year, people didn't give Ole Miss a chance against the "high-octane offense" team that beat Texas, and EVERYONE thought Georgia Tech would shred LSU to pieces. They said the SEC was in a down year, and cited weak OOC schedules.

Boise is undefeated and ranked in the top 5 and 19-9 is not a dismantling.
Why did you stop at 5?
SEC:
12-0
11-0
8-3
8-3* (Has not beaten anyone)
7-4
7-4
7-5
6-5
6-5
6-5
4-7
2-10
Pac 10
9-2
8-3
8-3
7-3
7-4
6-4
6-5
4-7
3-7
1-10
Its debatable
Clearly Florida and Bama are better than anyone else in either conference. Oregon St, USC, Cal, Stanford and maybe even Arizona stack up well with Ole Miss, LSU, Arky, UK, UGA, UT.

why do some people take it so personally when the media says this?
I could give a shite about the "who's the best this season?" argument

I don't have to give a link. They say the same thing every year. Someone else already went through the progression of what the media says every single year.

I wish I knew BilJ.
Why do Sainttards get their panties bunched up if Peter King or some one says Indy is the best team?
At worst the SEC is 2nd best, and its probably still the best anyway. Maybe its just my LSU pessimism, but I think we are grossly over rated at 8-3, I wouldn't want to play anyone in the Pac 10 outside of the bottom 3 WSU, ASU and UW

You can't tell the relative strength of the conferences anymore until bowl season because of the scarcity of inter-conference BCS games. And no, it isn't just the SEC that does that.
The PAC-10 plays a bunch of bowls against the Big-10. How much of this was due to the strength of the PAC-10 and how much was the weakness of the Big-10?

How many bowl eligible teams did they have? Hmmm?
The answer is: 5
So the SEC had 5 more teams that were bowl eligible.
Since 2001 the Pac-10 is 26 - 19 in bowl games.
Since 2001 the SEC is 38 - 22. But yeah, the Pac-10 is way better.

some one posted some ranter perception that is total bullshite.
The media usually slobbers all over the SEC. Why do you think LSU vaulted from 7 to 2 and into the BCS CG in 2007? Just because they say nice things about the Big 12 or Pac 10 does not mean they are blasting the SEC.
