really? does he have any catches in the preseason?

Maybe he just needed contact lenses.

Tyrann Matthieu

This, along with Jacob Hester, are the two most obvious answers, at least from the last couple of decades. The Honey Badger rose higher than Hester but, as we know, also had quite a fall. Still, both of those guys came out of nowhere to be critical, central pieces of great teams.

How many players mentioned were 4 or 5 star athletes or in the top ten at their position as a recruit? For example, I don't consider Rohan an over achiever. He was great but he was projected very high as a recruit.

Brett Helms and Lyle Hitt.

They weren't stars, but they were undersized guys who started on the OL for several years.

we already had the dbu moniker, had the size and every one thought he'd be a good player for us just because the staff had success with guys like him.

Na this should be the Tyrann Mathieu thread. While Hester was gold he is no where near as decorated as TM7.

Herb Tyler- never gets mentioned as one of the better LSU QB's but his numbers say otherwise

haven't you heard? Numbers don't mean shite at lsu because we don't produce qbs and because Herb started a ton of games.
