Also, I've been going to Tiger Stadium every year since 1994, and I've never noticed this. I guess I'm too busy actually singing the anthem the way it was written to notice.

I am thinking there is a bunch a students in this thread defending this. Their reality is probably everyone does it but the rest of the stadium is not. Just a theory.

Yelling "Home of the Tigers" is in NO WAY within the same confines of saying "a**hole" in Tiger Rag or "suck that tiger d***, b*tch" in Neck

They are all disrespectful. They do fall within the same confines. They may not be on the same level, but the premise is the same. Someone is singing something that someone else might find offensive.

Now, I am by no means a PC individual and do not get offended easily. I guess being a former service member and having a father who was as well hits a little closer to home for me.

Uh-oh. Houston, we have a problem.

Is that the standard? What about badly mangling the anthem? Is that better, worse or about the same as "And the home of the......TIGERS!"?

Glad you cleared that up.

I don't get pissed at people that do it and I'm not going to lecture anyone on it. I have a strong opinion on the matter for several reasons, as I do with P&G American and Confederate flags, so I do not do it nor condone it.

But to each his own, everyone has their right to do things that don't make any sense

Thanks, Ace. And yes, I get more upset with those who think that the National Anthem should be 10 minutes long when they sing their version and add multiple syllables when one is enough than I do with "Tigers."

I can understand the distaste of it. However, America is indeed the home of the Tigers. And we love America for it. I do it every time. Its not out of disrespect, its still because of pride in our country.

This!

Oh by the way, I LOVE my country!

Let me repeat, I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm merely explaining why I don't do it.

I don't like the song mangled, and I don't even like it when the singer gets too creative with it. It's not about the singer, it's about the song.

Also, the song represents us as a country. All of us. Not just tiger fans. Someone that hates the tigers should be able to enjoy it as it was meant to be (they can be taunted and ridiculed later).

And just remember, if it's okay for us to stick "Tigers" into it, then it's okay for fans in Bama to stuff in a "Rahl Tahd". To me that would be appalling.

The number of people who yell "Tigers" at the end of the national anthem seems to get smaller every year and it's mostly students. 10 years ago everyone yelled it.

Interesting, I think it is the exact opposite. I would say you hardly ever heard it before and it has drastically increased over the last 10 years.

It's also not very original either. At Dallas Stars games the crowd always shouts out the word "Stars" when it comes up in the anthem. They've been doing that since the early 90's. I don't like that either (and they aren't even changing the words).

And FYI, I'm actually okay with the LSU flag made to mirror the American flag. I feel like once you change the colors, it isn't the American flag anymore.

How's it disrespectful?

If you have to ask this question, you probably couldn't comprehend the answer.

That said, it doesn't make me fuming mad when people do it. I just choose not to do so.

I have been tempted to say "braves" instead of "brave" though at an Atlanta game lol. But that's not REALLY change the words/meaning thereof.

If you took a poll I am sure the majority would think it is disrespectful. I don't think anyone has said yall shouldn't do it but we are expressing OUR freedom of speech in saying we think it is wrong.
