I will take your word for it. I am not a frequent visitor here. But man every domer I have seen has been bitter. To the point I was hoping they go 0-11 and I always like notre dame til they play LSU.

ST’s were improved compared to FSU. It’s a work in progress. This whole season is a work in progress

Personnel is why we kept letting the inside guy go unblocked on field goals against FSU even after we changed personnel? I would maybe agree with you if it was only one aspect of special teams, but it’s not. There isn’t one part of our special teams play that hasn’t struggled yet. We are going to play several more close games and bad special teams will lose them for us, just like it did game 1.

Because they didn’t get a kicked blocked? They were much worse this game. Couldn’t cover, couldn’t tackle, and literally seemed to have no understanding of the small things that kids know not to do.
And by the way, they almost had another kicked blocked when someone came flying around the corner unblocked on an extra point and just missed blocking it.

I think one mistake by CBK, was not retaining Greg McMahon. Our special teams were always great under him.

Kelly wanted recruiters at the non-coordinator spots, but we need to stash Polian somewhere else and get a great coach in there.

No coach called for squibs
Both coaches were in the Kickers face screaming at him each time
SEC teams with a speedster will block it all day. The kick operation is slow and still looks too close to the lineman.

If that's what they said, they weren't wrong. LSU Special Teams this year is the absolute worst I've ever seen them field. They can't cover punts or kicks and can't block so our returners have a chance. LSU may not have all the pieces a team but you can't tell me they don't have athletes. ST is atrocious all of a sudden.

The punt returner was found to have no mental activity in his brain. He started at the 10 and backed up to the 3 to catch the ball! That’s 1000% on the coach. You put him on the 10 and chew his butt anytime he steps back. You teach him to fake where the ball is going and get away from it. Speaking of get away from it, what was that about diving on a ball on the last punt? What: coach didn’t tell him? Does the coach have to tell the QB not to throw it to the other teams DB’s?
Special teams are horrible! Do they let Polian coach or make him recruit 24/7. No one could be that bad!

We don't know what the punt receiver has been told. He could have been told not to receive a punt inside the 10, or the 5, idk. I do know the special teams guy appears to have someone now who does not drop punts, and I'll accept that improvement, especially since that is something you can never know until a pressure filled game is on the line.

LSU special teams are terrible. From personnel decisions to what they are being taught. They will continue to make mistakes, because they are poorly coached. Brian Polian, he’s the type of guy that was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.
