On ESPN, after noting reports of players throughout college football testing positive for coronavirus, and that the college football season is still scheduled to start on time. It was noted that players and their parents want to know how universities and the NCAA will protect players. Spears explained rather forcefully on ESPN as he’s prone to do, “damn right” players need to be involved in decisions being made.

I’m sure he told Saban this when he played.

players have always been involved in the decision-making process. They have the right to decide if they want to play in the current system or not. That has not changed.

The remedy is that player decide it's not worth it to them to play...not that they wait until they are "guaranteed safety", which can never happen.

After the greatest season ever in college football by an LSU team and all the positive karma our Tigers had all season, along with the immense popularity of the college game being at its most elevated, one could just sense some negative Karma was coming our way. Truly didn’t expect this and no one knows what to expect going forward.

Players are and will continue to receive great care by the staff at LSU. I don’t see what the issue is. These “breaking news” tweets are fear porn. There was going to be a spike whether it was last week, next month or next year. How many student athletes were being tested for the first time in four months and how many were actually adhering to social distancing guidelines.

You think Covid-19 is karma for LSU having a great football season?

Maybe it needs to end in its current form.

What does that even mean? If the players decision is to not play then don’t play.

“Giving them a say” just gives them the same decision options they have now.

The 2019 LSU football season elevated everyone’s addiction to college football, life happens so fast and it can be so hard, so many worries and fears, you just hope to enjoy moments with family and friends, then Covid 19 happens.

Spears thinks talking loudly is a good way to make a point. Sadly, he just comes off as foolish. "Swagu" is just another ESPN putz.

Club sports. Les be honest, most of the players are only in school because they have to be to get not the NFL at this point.

Maybe it's time to kill scholarship sports.

That’s a cop out.

The choice of lose You scholarship or be exposed to covid isn’t the normal situation.
