Remember a few years ago when they offered up pieces of the field to anyone who wanted it? I remember going thinking It would be a small wait, I was wrong. Does anyone still have their piece of Death Valley?

I was going to put into back yard, but I wanted to keep it separate so it would always be known as being 100% tiger stadium. The same grass that the greatest team in history played on.

Didn't get any sod from TS but did buy a block of dirt from the old Box that's framed in a display with a painting of the last game there

I went in through the back gate during an offseason and took some dirt as well, which I have in a jar in my office.

LSU didn't really care about locking anything for a time, Tiger Stadium included. When I was a student in the early 00's there was a gate in the southwest corner that was always left open. Friends, beers, glow-in-the-dark football...that was the shite.

But I've made this about me and that's annoying...apologies and back to the thread.

I have sod from the 2000 Tennessee and Bama games. That’s it.

LSU 28 vs #1 FLA 21 Oct. 11, 1997.
Got "authentic" souvenir sod from end zone in the most improbable upset victory in LSU history. Fans stormed the field after the game and goal posts went down. We beat lowly Vanderbilt 7-6 the previous week so chances of a "W" were slim. Herb Tyler and Kevin Faulk and especially Cedric Donaldson (DB) were the stars that night. We lost to Ole Miss the next week..... Still ended up winning West. Whipped ND in rematch (payback) in Independence Bowl after losing to them in South Bend in mid-Nov. Pretty good year for then Coach Gary DiNardo.
Geaux Tigers!

Ha, I remember that like it was yesterday. Think I got there about an hour early to wait. I remember them telling people to form a line of cars and pull up and grab a few pieces. That probably lasted 3 min and then it turned into a mad rush. People running to and carrying heavy dirt 100+ yards back to their vehicle, was funny.

Not that it matters a ton but it was a very poorly organized event. Seems like there were less than 5 Joe blow workers who ended up doing nothing.

That’s called paint where I live.

Had a roomate at the time quick enough after the 97 game to snag a Endzone marker. Quite the addition to an already disgusting apartment but it was awesome.

I still have some grass in two bags from the 2014 Ole Miss game. Saw one person walking out the stadium that night with the chains. Does anyone know something cool I could do with that grass, instead of it just sitting in zip loc bags? It’s just a handful of grass, but I’d like to have a better display for it, then in baggies.

Spring of '98 I was transferred from Texas back to New Orleans. Walked into Mike Serio's poboy shop and saw on the counter a styrofoam hamburger box. It had "Eye of the Tiger" written on top. I opened it and it was some turf from this game.

Yeah I thought I would stop by that when they were getting rid of the turf and it was some running of the gumps type shite. Every man for himself. Pretty sure my slab is still growing in the corner of my backyard though

I kept mine separate and it has its own artificial sunlight setup on its own little table.
