i think we should build the south and north upper decks but instead of seats have a huge jumbotron that displays ads the whole time. that would be awesome.

“The south end zone poses some huge problems,” Alleva said. “Unless you hang the new seats over the old ones, they are so far from the field they wouldn’t be conducive. And by backing them you go out to (South Stadium) road and you’d have to redo the road and the parking lot.

“I don’t think that’s a viable option, so I’ve asked our architects to come back with a new plan.” If and when something can be done, Alleva said it would probably be mostly club seats with “a very few suites” and some regularly priced seating. Building a huge upper deck around the top of the south end zone to connect the east and west upper decks — both of which were built with the prospect of one day being connected — isn’t likely to happen as part of this project. And nothing is going to happen until Alleva’s architects can find a way to build a better mouse trap.

“It’s feasible, but you want to build something fans will enjoy,” he said. “You want to get them as close to the field as you can.”

^ just do this

We need to make sure we do this bitch right. I want a big expansion.

I love LSU's mid-major programs. 10k seat addition= big $$$$ for new facilities.

Pretty sure it is in the works to be done over the next few years meaning 3-7 years. I have a few friends who have worked in the Athletic department in various fields and they have said it was being rumored and a few recently said that it was passed by the board. And no I don't have a link it was just said in conversation

O love when people's sources speak like this everyones's a source

Our State is upside down when it comes to cash. We are laying state workers off left and right (because we never should have grown government like we did in the past). Do you really think we are going to pony up and make this happen right now? It would not only be a bad decision financially, but the wrath of criticism from media and everyone else around would be awful. I'm not saying I don't want this to happen, but i don't think we can afford it unless shaq or some other big time boosters pony up the dough for it

The State won't be paying for any expansion, TAF would. Not tax money, not professors salaries, not parking fees. Got it????

The North endzone is a no go at this point because of the road between TS and PMAC plus the fact that we spent $3 million for Mike's habitat. Alleva said he wants to put a larger screen atop the NEZ. Why? We need something in the SEZ. That board is ratty. Now for the folks saying they can't wait to hear the noise increase, I am not sure. What I have seen as it expands is businesses buying the tickets up and giving them to random folks who are not traditional fans. They don't know the traditions. They don't follow the band. They don't cheer. Is it going to be more of the same? I hope not. All that being said, I hope we expand if it is needed but not just to be the biggest or bigger. Quality over quantity any day. That is what she said!

If they want to put a few club seats in, that is fine. However, I am moreso for selling game tickets to real fans who will support the team instead of selling businesses blocks of tickets and thus keeping the rest of us from being able to get season tickets.

That said, I will be ok upgrading my TV and watching them at home until I can get a shot at season tickets, which will occur when there is a dry spell, and there will be another dry spell at some point. Programs go in cycles.

Also, because there are 3 structures attached to the stadium in the North Endzone. That was the sole reason the east upper deck wrapped around the south--because it was not feasible to wrap it around the north with the rehab room in the north endzone. The same followed with the new west upper deck because of the Lawton Room and to mirror the east side.

The road excuse is BS. Re-routing a road is nothing...it would be a good project for the senior level civil engineering students.

As to the upper being too far back, I can see that issue, although would it be drastically different than the east and west upper? If you are in the upper decks, you already know that you are not going to see as well as row 35 on the 50 yardline.

If making money is the object, the buildings aren't sacrosanct. We can always rebuild them into whatever new structures supporting the NEZ UD.

True. But aethetically, I think it would look much better closing in the South Endzone. But we would be able to get much more seating in a North Endzone expansion.
