Sometimes it just turns out to be a bad fit.

Kelly put his money in a home he could recruit in. At the same time he was having to pay his estranged wife undisclosed sums. Then he put a million in the recovery center. I think the guy and Woodward were in good faith and when Saban left LSU would have been a better hire than Les. However, the SEC is dog eat dog. Add to that the portal and NIL. The portal and NIL and I would guess player and their family’s attitudes caused Saban to retire. If it caused Nick to retire then you know Kelly is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately Kelly and Woodward didn’t have the benefit of seeing Saban retire.

Kelly should take a que from Frankie Pentangeli. He should do the honorable thing. Negotiate a buyout and retire.

Why on Earth would Kelly do that? Would you leave generational wealth for your kids, their kids, and their kid's kids on the table?

I agree with your premise that Kelly doesn't appear to be a good fit, but the rest of your post is ridiculous. Kelly isn't negotiating to receive less money than he's owed.

Agreed - Kelly is not a good fit here. The problem is the massive buyout. I'm afraid we're stuck for at least another couple of years. Maybe he can turn it around with better coaching hires; I really don't have much faith that he can.
I hope I am wrong.

Only way is if it’s a win for Kelly. Let’s say he is miserable. Taking a 30 million buyout could be mutually beneficial.

He really does look miserable. His sideline demeanor is horrible. I really wonder if his heart in this.

If you have to pay someone $100 million to do something, their heart ain’t in it. And that’s the problem, no attachment to the university, just a money deal that he does not have to work hard to get paid at.

Looking back he always looked like that.

Agreed. Essentially Woodward backed up a Brinks truck to bring in a mercenary. I see no sense of urgency or incentive to win. Would like to see a coach who is hungry and will do what it takes to win. I do not see that with Kelly.

I really wasn't all that familiar with him at ND. The more I hear about his time there, sadly I am not all that surprised at what he's brought to LSU.

I'm not sold on Sloan. He is a qb coach and that is all he is. I think he has made Nuss worse, not better. Calling horrible plays and trying to micro manage Nuss into a game manager is a bad combo. The next 2 games I would let Nuss go out and sling it and have fun. At this point, there is not much to play for. Just go out and have fun and lay off trying to reel Nuss back in. The dude is best when he is slinging it around like at UGA 2 years ago.

This can be said for virtually all head coaches or any coach for that matter.
