LSU has lost 5 consecutive season openers. The smart money is on Clemson.

Doesn’t sound very smart to me to use this stat as a basis for a bet

Clemson hasn't been a ball of fire in openers recently either.

2024 - L vs UGA 34-3
2023 - L vs Duke 28-7
2022 - W vs GA Tech 41-10
2021 - L vs UGA 10-3

Clemson is also on a 3 game losing streak to the SEC. UGA, USCe, and Texas.

LSU is on a losing streak in openers. Someone is going to break their losing streak.

LSU’s total defense = 61

Rush defense= 51

Biggest X-Factor in this game is the LSU defensive line vs the Clemson Offensive line.

Second biggest X-Factor is the LSU offensive line vs the Clemson Defensive line.

Both teams have weapons offensively and defensively that will make plays but who can establish the run and get after the other team is going to be huge. The biggest weakness for Clemson is their depth not sure its going to be a big impact on the game but it could be.

LSU is loaded at the skill positions on offense, including the better returning QB.

Clemson’s talent is among the best in the country.

you know nothing other than what some media is hyping up. That same media has Penn State #2 in some polls, and ND also way up there, every single year. They didn't play like they were the best talented in the country last year, and that's who will be playing for them this year, for the most part. Maybe they improve greatly, but to just say among the best in the nation, based off of last year, is just foolish. Sure, they will have a good record, due to competition. But, let's not forget their biggest win last year in the regular season was 7-6 Pitt, and they went 0-3 against SEC.

You do realize that Clemson lost last year's opening game to Georgia (who was down for Ga last year) by a score of 34-3, and the year before that they lost the opening game to Duke 28-7....both with their current starting QB. All this shite about LSU losing 5 in a row to open the season, Clemson has had their own problems.

So, just disregard Clemson's opening game struggles recently, only focus on LSU? Maybe it is you that doesn't have an idea what you are talking about. You can't take away from the fact that Clemson, although ranked highly, has lost the last two season openers by a combined total of 52 points, and have lost 3 of 4 openers. Sounds like to me, you might want to do a little more research on Clemson yourself.

If it is a close game, late, it absolutely can and will. It will be hot.

Okay, so lets just say this argument makes sense. If you don't judge a team's talent from media reports or from last year, how do you judge LSU?

Do you just use what you saw in person in high school or at practice this year?

Or, does looking at NFL draft projections, considering the opinions of national long time proven analysts like Phil Steele (just ONE example), the collective aggregate opinion of 180 sports media writers who cover all ACC teams throughout the conference and absorbing the knowledge and interpretation from experienced players and coaches like Mark Richt, EJ Manuel, Eric Mac Lain, Will Blackmon, etc. and combining that with the opinion and advice from gambling experts and betting odds/lines set in Vegas seem to make logical sense?

Which is why I said not sure that it will but it could impact the game. I will be curious how the new rule about faking injuries is going to work. Because it says if a player is injured after the ball is spotted which means if a player just pretends to be injured after the play and never gets up before the ball is potted its not a penalty. So curious how that is going to be policed and enforced.

So, Clemson will be very up for this game and has the talent. But, if they were in the SEC, they would face this challenge 8 times a year.
LSU understand or should that Clemson is going to the playoff. Period. It is inevitable. A win over them is more important than any game on our schedule. The SEC will devour itself akin to last year. A premium ooc win will go a long way if we are a borderline playoff team
