For real, his slider is elite enough that an okay curveball has value. There are MLB orgs that would take him as is and try to make a starter out of him

Either it doesn’t show on camera or I don’t know what I’m looking at. The latter is most likely the case.

He’s basically Makail Hilliard as a freshman.

Batters don’t like vertical change….

Current pitching trends say the opposite. We see way more sliders these days than old school 12-6 curves.

Tight spin on his curve and he doesn’t start it high. Great release point on it. When he throws his FB, he throws it up and out of the zone or on the edge. Not leaving you anything to really hit.

None of that comes across on TV, but I’ll defer to you.

Breaking ball k’s, FB k’s, lots of k’s. 1st pitch k’s. He also makes hitters uncomfortable by pitching fast.

What you see watching on TV and what you see in the batter's box aren't the same thing.

Oh I agree and I love watching him pitch. In no way shape or form am I trying to downplay him. I just don’t get it

It’s strange. When my kid pitched he had nothing , no FB, no curve, maybe a cutter. But he just got people out.

His personality was nothing like Guidry. But he just didn’t give af. He’d throw the next pitch and make them hit it.

We laughed because it became a mantra, “ he’s not gonna blow you away with anything but his ERA.”

Pitching is so much more than velo, and I say that with stars in my eyes watching Skenes like a 17yo girl watched Robert Plant.

Guidry has an f/u factor that you hate and respect at the same time. It’s just a part of the game I have a big heart for because it’s fun af.

Dude doesn’t even shave yet and Jay has him closing out Supers with 2 run lead. Somebody knows something. Great start to his career. I wish Kling would have done more this year, maybe like Jones.

He throws strike one, he doesn’t play around with any hitter goes straight at them. Two pitches for strikes in any count. Baseball statistics says you do that from the mound you win at this level. Four outcomes from a strike, 3 are in your favor.

Guidry wouldn't hold Ott's jock strap.
