I'm not sure who's acting like we smoked anyone. We're all aware of the weak competition, and I didn't think the bats were particularly potent considering said competition. But I've gotten used to slow starts with the bats, so even with a lineup this deep, I'm going to wait a little while before I have a big reaction to anything.

But if someone wants to get excited over beating WMU, it doesn't bother my sensibilities. As long as homers recognize when they're being homers and don't get mad at me for saying I thought we should have hit a little better, I'm fine with it.

are you kidding me?? GTFO of here with all of that! this team could have swept the '61 Yankees this weekend!!! we're not going to lose a game this season!

Tennessee under the direction of baseball god “Tony Vitello” lost to Grand Canyon over the weekend. It’s baseball. LSU will lose this year. But, to ignore the over-all talent on this team with the coaching they have is foolish.

Indubitably ... I'm pretty sure the humor meter is actually banned from these premises.

They are still projected bottom half of their conference. I believe it was 7th. But OP should be looking at the things that prevented us from advancing last season, and the improvement this season. Regardless of opponent, the fielding improved drastically. The bullpen walks less batters. Those are two big characteristics teams that win a lot of games. We’ll see how the bats do, and how the SP holds up against better competition, but there is no reason to diminish the teams play this weekend based on opponent.

WMU is basically a directional school and was 18-36 last year with a very weak schedule. I get it, LSU is loaded, but the homers are acting like we just smoked Vanderbilt.

Literally nobody is acting like that, everyone knows WMU is a cupcake series.

It's perfectly fine to be complementary of the pitching and defense this weekend, they stepped up in a big way to produce what they did.

On the flip side plenty of people including myself said while the offense definitely put some runs in 2/3 games wish we might have seen even a little bit more out of the offense against a pitching staff as bad as WMU has. The Saturday game was a little too close for real comfort as we only put up 5 runs on 7 hits. While we put up 10 and 9 runs the other games it did only come on 9 and 10 hits as well which is solid but again nothing spectacular against WMU. When a team like that comes to town you are hoping to see one of those 20-4 romps where you have like 15-16 hits and you come out the weekend hitting like .340 as a team...But baseball can be baseball and it's a high variability sport. Cant be upset with anything this past weekend, that's just being as critical as you can be considering the opponent.

You’re not good at acting, but the expectations are high and they played right there just like their ranking. Error free, pitching(I believe only 9 hits) , averaged 8 runs, starting Ps hitting 98/99 with control, and a sweep. We might not beat a world beater but we showed we can.

All those Bertman teams in the 90’s played University of Maine most years to open up. We didn’t slow our roll then, not now……

You have quite an inflated sense of your importance.

I think you misread that. “Someone has to be that guy…” was a recognition that his message was a downer, and that he was being a little negative. Rather than arrogance, it was a statement of humility.
