I am about 99% sure he's out for the year, though there is video of him doing some throwing in March. I could have sworn Jay already said he plans to redshirt him.

Yeah, no. Jay never said he's out for the year, reporters just don't ask the right questions. Sheerin has recently thrown live ABs and is possibly closer to seeing the mound than Guidry is. He tore his ACL in late July and had the surgery in early August, so if everything was done right in the leg recovery/arm ramp up, April return makes sense.

Thought it was reported here.

If this is true that's massive news. He made the 40 man so I guess they had some hope (instead of redshirting off the roster).

Gonna beat Tenn at home 2/3 I believe. I think we’ll also beat Bama 2/3. AU might be a sweep, but ARK and possibly sweep S. Car. On the road like OU. I could see an upside of 12/6 the rest of the way which could contend for SEC Title.
That’s optimistic of course, but w/offense the way it’s playing pitching doesn’t have to always be stellar.

About a month back in a press conference Jay said it was about "doing it right", meaning making sure the knee is stable before they do the arm ramp up process. Your thought process is mine; the fact that he made the 40 man roster is a big sign that he can be ready this season. I have it on good authority that following the State series Sheerin was to throw live ABs.

He's the season changer nobody is talking about. He logged 70 innings from only 2 starts, 16 being relief appearances. Was up to 98, holds 95 and has a good slider. 109K/32BB with a 1.16 WHIP. The ceiling we have with Guidry & Sheerin healthy and firing is pretty wild.

Can’t believe Standfield is leading with .375 BA. I knew he was hitting better lately, but hadn’t realized he was actually leading the team!

I love him in the 9hole. He is like a 2nd lead off guy when we turn the lineup over, and gives a man on base when Curiel comes up, quite often.

This team does a really good job offensively.
I think Milam finds his stride soon

.296.

Had some bad luck the first few weeks but has been tearing the cover off the ball lately.

Lots of people will be surprised at this. He's gotten an unfair amount of criticism this year.

Strangest stat of all so far is that in conference games Jones has the lowest slugging percentage of the ‘starters’ (not including Braswell and Reaves). He is tied for most hits with 16 but 14 of those are singles.

I’m sure that will change as the weather warms up.

We may not need a 4th starter of that level for regionals or supers, but we absolutely will need one for Omaha.

It's Cowan. It's going to be really tough for anyone to keep us from going 2-0 with the Anderson/Cowan, Eyanson/Evans combos on the mound. Then you get the day off and we know Cowan has a bit of a rubber arm and can most likely come back and pitch in that game 3 after Shores if we have a lead or be that game 4 starter if we lose game 3. This team is built well for Omaha

Eta: the above is more for a regional format. Forgot about the extra days in between games for the CWS but the general principles still apply. Maybe you use Evans in games 2 and 3 if you only start 1-1 instead so Cowan can start game 4. At this point Evans and Cowan are looking pretty interchangeable

Yeah but if any of Noot, Ware, and Schmidt can go 4 innings of 3 run ball then that keeps us in any game in the post season and allows us to be more flexible with Cowan and Evans, something we need to have

It's crazy to me that Bear only has 3 walks in 4 conference series so far.

That’s what’s wrong here. The perception 3.51 era is good when compared to the rest of CBB. it’s grading on a scale, dumbing down the stat. Our starting pitching is worse. We played the bad news bears for 20 games. Minimum with these facts should be 3.0 +- .25.

People are losing their minds over the staff, but by the time the season ended in '23, we really only relied on 7 pitchers. Skenes, Ack, Herring, Floyd, Cooper, Hurd, Guidry. Even then, Floyd and Cooper had 4+ ERA and Hurd was at 5.68.

I've been trying to explain this to people who are concerned about the bullpen.

Once we hit postseason Jay will ride with the best 7-8 arms. He will stretch those guys out as long as possible and the other arms won't see the field.
