Overall Stats

Conference Only Stats

40% of the way through conference play and we have 6 every day players.

1. Stanfield
2. Curiel
3. Jones
4. Dickinson
5. Hernandez
6. Milam

Frey, Brown, Pearson, Reaves, and Braswell have all played at least 7 games.

Stanfield leading the team in BA at .375

Hernandez and Curiel in 2nd at .340. Hernandez, after a slow start, is now hitting .310 overall.

Braswell quietly hitting .304 in conference play.

Curiel and Jones tied for team lead in RBI with 11, 4 other guys have at least 9.

Milam struggling to start slashing .238/.308/.500. Can't imagine where this team goes if he turns it on.

Each infielder with 1 error so far through 12 games. Can live with that.

Anderson and Eyanson with 3.51 and 3.86 ERA, respectfully. Shores still too high at 6.48, but looks to be improving.

Evans and Cowan are super stars.
- Evans 0.68 ERA with 20K/5BB in 13.1 IP. 3 Saves. .118 BAA.
- Cowan 0.61 with 21K/3BB in 14.2 IP. 3 Saves. .200 BAA.

Only real downside is the back end of the bullpen. Wchmidt has an ERA of 20.25, but that's really due to the bad UT outing. I think between Ware, Schmidt, Rizy, Noot, Williams, and hopefully Guidry, 2 guys step up and complete this pitching staff.

People are losing their minds over the staff, but by the time the season ended in '23, we really only relied on 7 pitchers. Skenes, Ack, Herring, Floyd, Cooper, Hurd, Guidry. Even then, Floyd and Cooper had 4+ ERA and Hurd was at 5.68.

As of now, we have 3 studs in Anderson, Cowan, and Evans. I think Eyanson is on his way there. Shores is hopefully coming into his own. Then you just need two more. I think they will emerge.

We're about to run into a gauntlet. of Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, A&M, Arkansas, South Carolina. If we go 8-10 in that stretch, we're a national seed. I think we'll find 6 wins against Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina. Going 2-7 against Tenn/Arky/A&M and you're still likely a national seed. Future looks bright for this team.

To clarify, those records are not predictions, just laying out a scenario in which struggling against good competition does not result in the world ending.

You’re going to have to explain this every single time a team takes a lead against us the rest of the way

Great post

Thanks for the stats. Like you said, if we can just get 2 more pitchers throwing just good we are in great shape. I would like to see Braswell get the full series against Auburn as well. I feel like he is coming around.

I think we're better than your predictions on our final record. I think back to the Texas series,we should have won one of those games. I think we're capable of sweeping auburn ,aggie, and Bama. I doubt we do but I believe we win all three series and sweep 1 or 2 We can beat arkansas or Tennessee 2-1 and go 1-2 against the other. That's going 10-5 . We then play south Carolina to finish the year and that's definitely a possible sweep

We could go 13-5 at best imo . Worst case we finish 9-9
23-7 at best and 19-11 at worst . I believe we obviously host with those records and we get a national seed with both probably.

In the sec tournament i just want us to win more games than we lose.

I do as well. I'm just pointing out that with such a hot start, we've put ourselves in a great spot moving forward.

I agree. Plus we don't know who will get hot between now and then ,what other school i mean.

For instance, Tennessee losing 2of3 to aggie makes it feel much more likely that we will be able to take a game or two from them, but it also makes it look more likely that aggie isn't the easy series we thought it would be after the slow start.

What I like about us this season is that we're sweeping teams when in years past we were just winning 2 of 3 against a lot of the teams we beat.

Hell, even in 2023 we weren't sweeping 3 of our first 4 series.

I’ve always thought that the best benefit of the SEC tourney was to get to a 4th game and see who you’ve got who can be a 4th starter, and eat up 4-5 innings against quality competition.

We may not need a 4th starter of that level for regionals or supers, but we absolutely will need one for Omaha.

4th starter would be noot probably. By the time we would need a 4th starter ,Evans and Cowan would be burned a long time ago.

I think ware and Schmitt are going to get there thos season sometime

Team looks great

Guessing the wins never works. It’ll be completely different than that. We’ll beat the ones that look impossible and lose to the “easy” ones.

Oh of course. That wasn't my actual prediction. My actual prediction is much more bullish:

Auburn : 2-1
Alabama: 2-1
Tennessee: 2-1
A&m: 2-1
Arkansas: 1-2
South Carolina: 3-0

Just such a stark contrast in the position we've put ourselves in compared to last year.

Hopefully people take note of that and don't lost their minds when we have bad weekend (they won't ).

There is no bigger BB freak than I. 3.51 era is not fantastic if you are talking our league. But average to good pitching and above average and timely hitting can take you far.

I mean 3.51 puts you at 8th in the country and 3rd in the league. That’s pretty solid

LSU has the 2nd best team ERA in conference play at 4.16. Unless you're Paul Skenes, everything is relative. You can't look at ERA like you did 15 years ago in college baseball. You can't even really look at ERA like you did 5 years ago in college baseball.

shite, even looking at Skenes' numbers, Skenes had an in-conference ERA of 2.14 at LSU in 13 starts. His rookie year in the MLB (one year later) he had an ERA of 1.96 in 23 starts.

I just cannot fathom this..... the staff has been phenomenal.

A few still figuring things out, but as a group, they've been unreal.

Great, great stats in this post, but the fanbase needs to correct their sights a bit. 18 wins this year will not earn you a top-8 national seed, and 19 will be borderline. Luckily we have the horses to win 20+ and not have to sweat it. Saying we'll take 6 from Aub/Bama/SC and 2 from Tenn/Arky/A&M is severly downplaying how good we have been and is worst case scenario. We should get 7 from Aub/Bama/SC and 4 at least from Tenn/Arky/A&M.

Also, people talk about Guidry coming back but don't be surprised when Sheerin is in the mix soon.

I think 18-12 in conference play gets you there but we'll see. The last SEC team to not get a national seed with at least 18 wins, and the only I found in the last 7 years (after some brief research) was Ole Miss in 2021. I think 19 is 100% national seed.

This was me laying out the worst case scenario, not a prediction.

I am about 99% sure he's out for the year, though there is video of him doing some throwing in March. I could have sworn Jay already said he plans to redshirt him.

He would immediately have the best stuff on the staff if he threw this year. May not be the best pitcher, but stuff wise it doesn't get much better.

Isn't 3.51 top 20 in the entire country? I swear some of you just post bullshite and hope it sticks, not thinking that everyone else also has the internet
