Wtf was Dunn doing the last few years?

The same thing Mainieri was doing - cashing checks and watching players regress.

The fact that Hilliard’s dad recently died slipped my mind when he said he was coming back. Good for him. Go out there with something to prove and something/someone to play for.

It is too bad the football players don't have this attitude about staying at LSU, because all they want to do is get to the League!

What's impressive is that this group of players have been around the block & are hard to fool at this point in their careers. The rah rah stuff doesn't go very far with veteran players. That they are this excited by this HC & his staff speaks volumes as to Johnson's credibility. Now if LSU would only put him in charge of concessions too....

Devin Fontenot says he expects Jason Kelly's pitching program will be a little more individualized and focus on each player more specifically. That was a part of the appeal to come back for another year.
Remember when people said this was a really problem years ago? I remember.

His first few years here the staff was really good, something happened in that 2016/2017 timeframe that it started to really dropoff

Yea it’s amazing how so many folks were criticizing the coaching and now these things are openly being said by players.

Hell there’s still one or two people who will try pick an argument if you imply the team wasn’t well coached

Excited to see what the hitting guru can do with Milazzo. If he hits .250 next year he gets MVP

I think it was simply a matter of going from a bunch of guys whose bodies and learning styles were conducive to his blanket approach to a bunch of guys that needed more varied approaches physically or mentally.

But let's not forget that he wasn't some overall pitching guru in the minor leagues. Sure, he held Minor League Pitching Coordinator title. But that's not a hands on coaching position and it was in an org that wasn't really pumping out top flight pitchers from their farm system at all.

The focus for Hilliard is a third pitch. You can have two if one is a 96 mph fastball, and that’s not the case here. He would be dangerous with a filthy slider.

The best pitcher in the country this year had one plus pitch.

The key with the new coach is that I want him to have a strong desire to chase down Skip. I understand it's not realistic, and likely will never be accomplished again. I want that type of fire though. Not someone who will become a fixture in Omaha early, win a title, and then become complacent.

You want the post-Bear Saban at Bama

Actually it’s in his stars ??
He’s got Hitlers birthday. 420 I believe. Very charismatic and born leaders. Horrible example but you get my drift.

I was somewhat lukewarm on the Johnson hire at first. Liked it, but didn't necessarily love it. Not anymore.

Same here. Coach J wasn't someone I was really paying attention to during the search, at least not until he became a finalist for the job. But Woodward came through with just the guy we needed.

He wasn't the name people were in love with, but I think it's an excellent hire. I think he will end up being the best fit and I feel LSU will win an NC with him. The attention to detail seems excellent with him and he seems like the type to eat, sleep and breathe baseball.

That's the impression I've gotten from everything I've seen so far. He's only been here 3 weeks, but has already laid a lot of the groundwork for 2022.

Interesting that the question about McManus turned into Johnson discussing milazzo and travinskj only about catcher position

I don’t think McManus is officially with the team, so Johnson can’t talk about him.

Holy crap I’m excited. Jay Johnson was the best hire possible.
