Solution for players sitting out

Make them pay back the year’s tuition they decided to sit out of the game. The agreement is that they play ball for said university in exchange for tuition, books, fees, clothing, food etc. most first rounders get huge signing bonuses so it would be a drop in the bucket for them to pay back the university who helped get them to financial stability. Just my opinion, but would be the easiest fix to the situation.
For the record, I’m ok with them sitting out due to their situations with family and such, but the university they represent should not be penalized for their decision not to play.

What if they are legitimately injured? And if they’re not, what prevents them from saying they have a tweaked hamstring and can’t play? There is no solution, it is what it is.

The semester is over and they are no longer enrolled in school by the time of the bowl game.

They can say they are hurt, then what?

Programs would use this to recruit against us

But they can't get paid money for helping the school with financial stability.

Obviously not if your solution is to make them pay money for doing it.

1. Wouldn’t fix anything
2. They played football through the fall semester and every semester LSU paid their tuition for.
This is dumb

Opens the door for “speculated injuries” i think...hamstrings, quads and calves will be strained...

What happens when you want them to help you get future recruits?

Terrible idea.
Not privy on what tuition costs are these days, but you're gonna tell me a player is gonna risk millions over $30k?

They fulfilled their commitment and earned the university millions along the way.
I wouldn't want to be the program that did this. You'd lose recruits left and right.

How about an expanded playoff? More players may play for a chance to win a National Championship vs “just a bowl game.”

That doesn't keep players from sitting out the bowl game, that puts $10k in LSU's pocket.

You guys sure do act big and bad on this board but then go to the recruiting board and circlejerk over recruits all day.

My solution is 2 part:
1) Any player projected to be drafted by acceptable sources, nfl draft board, mel kiper etc.. would be automatically covered by a future earnings insurance policy with the premium paid by their college. Just an off the cuff, hopefully realistic example: greedy is covered by a $10m policy, and LSU pays the $75k or so premium.
2) This hopefully helps to solve the "we had a subpar yr for our standards, so we don't give a crap, but are playing syracluse in the bowl who is flying high cuz they haven't won jack in 20 yrs" problem. Depending on the bowl (and this is funded by the bowl), each winning player of the LSU-ucf game receives 50k, and each loser receives 10k. Again, this is an incentive to play and WIN the bowl game.Lesser bowls would pay less, and playoffs more.

STFU. We are the best in the world at producing stupid, heartless, vengeful, pretentious, liars.

16 team playoff. Do away with bowls.

And no university support for pro day/combine. Can not work out on campus.

That'll hurt the school's other players at pro day more than the guy who left early. Fewer scouts will show up which means less exposure for the other guys.

When bowl ratings crash and the ncaa loses money this will be the solution.
