Nice pick up. Really wanted their ace pitcher, but this is a solid get too.

This is great, so the lineup for next year should be
C Carson
1B Bergon
2B Peterson, or a transfer
SS Pleasant
3B Coffey
RF Newland
CF Briggs
RF Rouderty

Good get. Beth may be determined to sink or swim with Dobson and Leftwich but good to see she’s working the portal.

Good first get. Hope it’s not the last.

It looks like she will be a big improvement defensively. She only threw out about 1/5 of base stealers compared to the 1/4 that LSU’s catchers did this year, but she only had 5 PB compared to 17 for LSU catchers. Michigan also had only 20 WP compared to 37 for LSU, though it’s harder to separate pitcher and catcher responsibility there.

If Bergeron is in the lineup, it will be at Catcher, defense is her strength. Georgia Clark should probably be in this lineup too, wither at first base or hitting for Peterson.

Don’t rule out Savoy starting day 1 at 1B. She and Maci were ND teammates and she can hit. She hit over .500 for the season and had close to 30HR’s

Michigan 38-18 and were in post deacon regionals. Just curious why this senior would transfer to LSU. They had a pitcher transfer out, as well, to another school.

5th year graduate student. She most likely just wanted to play in the SEC. "It Just Means More"

Depends on each individual athlete.

There are some kids who can't get into individual grad programs at their perspective schools. The Michigan pitcher was rumored to be leaving because of that reason. They may go somewhere else to get a different experience. Or they may go to another school because they have a grad program that fits what they want to do. Last being captain obvious, many will transfer to a team that gives them a chance to compete for a natty.

We are very fortunate Carson chose LSU. It's a good pickup. It does not solve all of LSU's issues but they are getting a proven, experienced catcher who hit over .300 and had way less passed balls/error than our two current catchers. Bergeron likely will play early on often but next year LSU will have a bunch of freshmen pitching as well so they needed some senior stability behind the plate as well

Carson provides some much needed depth as well, with all of the players that have hit the portal. She could slot in at first base when not catching, allowing Georgia to stay in the DP role.

Carson is also listed as an IF, I'm not sure if she has any SS/3B experience, but we currently have zero depth on the left side of the infield if Pleasants or Coffey got hurt.
